The  following message was just-received into the news department at Rock Father HQ: "International Day of Slayer," the annual heavy metal holiday that celebrates the uncompromising, loud and defiant music of the iconic thrash/punk/metal band Slayer, is celebrating its 12th year today, 6/6/17.  IDoS is the day where you stage a "Slay-out, Slay-in, Slay-on, Slay-off - don't go to school, don't go to work - but spend the day listening to Slayer at nuclear blast level in your car, your home, or in the public place of your choice.  True Slayer devotees do NOT use headphones but crank the sound up as loud as possible so that EVERYONE within earshot can hear Slayer.

#GhostbustersWeek continues on THE ROCK FATHER Magazine with a pop-fashion feature on one of my favorite mashups. From designer Helljester comes SLIMER THRASHIN' MAD- a t-shirt that posits the lovable green ghost as he might appear should he have stepped in for late SLAYER guitarist Jeff Hanneman instead of Exodus' Gary Holt. Who knew that Slimer was a left-handed player?

With all the trips I make to Los Angeles, I wish I was out there this weekend, because something fantastic is about to take place...

I've said it before, but I'll say it again - there's nothing like sitting back with a pumpkin beer in-hand, the smell of the cool autumn breeze coming through the windows, and the sweet sound of SLAYER blaring from the speakers of the hi-fi in October. I love SLAYER, so when two press releases relating to the metal titans landed here on the same day, I knew a post was in order. First-up, the band is in Henson Recording Studios in Hollywood right now, working on their new album, and a sneak-preview video has arrived via Scion A/V, who soon release a new track by the band...

It's no secret that I'm a fan of Toyota's SCION division, having been an early-adopter who custom-ordered an original Scion xB back in 2004 (I'm driving it today, actually). Now, ten years into the game, Scion continues their support of all-things-metal with the announcement of a special  “Scion x Slayer Mobile Amp tC” for thrash titans SLAYER, which will debut along side the “Scion x Riley Hawk Skate Tour xB” at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas, November 4-7, 2014.

For the past few years, the crew over at Roma Music Group has been releasing lullaby albums based on the biggest names in music through their Twinkle Twinkle Little Rock Star line - a collection that I've covered extensively here on THE ROCK FATHER. What had been flying under my radar until recently is a line of tributes they've been releasing by the MIDNITE STRING QUARTET. Now, string tributes are nothing new, but the library that Roma has assembled here is impressive. Already, they have releases based around DEFTONES, METALLICA, PANTERA, SLIPKNOT, ASKING ALEXANDRIA, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH and more - with albums based on the works of ADELE, PARAMORE, FALL OUT BOY, PANIC AT THE DISCO, RADIOHEAD and more due out within the next few weeks. Take a look at the rundown of what's out, all available on iTunes and Amazon.
