Though the first film and its initial sequel were both December releases during their original theatrical runs, the SCREAM franchise has become a perennial favorite for Halloween - not just for the movies, but for their original soundtracks and scores. It was 20 years ago that SCREAM first thrilled audiences, and for 2016 the folks at Varèse Sarabande have issued the original SCREAM 1 & 2 scores on 180-gram vinyl, complete with incredible new cover art by artist Gary Pullin.  The first version is presented on "Bone White" colored vinyl, making it an instant collector’s item and gift for Halloween 2016, limited to just 3,000 pieces. The second version is a limited-edition FYE Exclusive, presented on “Blood Splattered” vinyl, limited to a pressing of just 1,500 pieces. See the full cover art and tracklisting below...

On July 15, Paul Feig's GHOSTBUSTERS hits theaters, and as the film picks up steam, more GB-goodness has been oozing out like Ectoplasm upon the masses. Today comes another piece of the film's original soundtrack, "Ghostbusters (I'm Not Afraid)" - an update to Ray Parker Jr.'s classic GHOSTBUSTERS theme, this time performed by FALL OUT BOY featuring MISSY ELLIOTT. While I dig the tune, I'm partial to some other GHOSTBUSTERS covers out there (to be fair, this is more "inspired-by" than a direct cover), many of which I've written about in the past - including those from the likes of MELO-M, HOOBASTANK and LEO MORACCHIOLI.  With #GhostbustersWeek coming to THE ROCK FATHER Magazine next month, you can bet we'll have a playlist in order. Check out FALL OUT BOY's new jam below!

Ahead of the May 27 release of Disney's ALICE THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS comes a new music video from P!NK, "Just Like Fire." The new track is one of a pair that P!NK recorded for Tim Burton's new film, among them a cover of Jefferson Airplane's "White Rabbit." Interestingly, only "Just Like Fire" appears on the official soundtrack release, also hitting CD and Digital on the 27th along with selections from Danny Elfman's original score.

One of 2016's most off-the-wall movies arrives in theaters this Friday, and ELVIS & NIXON (get tickets via Fandango) is at the top of my "must-view" list. To coincide with the film's release, Lakeshore Records will release the ELVIS & NIXON – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack digitally on April 22nd and on CD (pre-order) May 20th.  The album features the film’s original score by Edward Shearmur (SHE’S FUNNY THAT WAY, SKY CAPTAIN AND THE WORLD OF TOMORROW), and classic tracks from artists including Sam & Dave, Blood, Sweat & Tears, Creedence Clearwater Revival, and Otis Redding. Having heard the soundtrack and score, I can tell you first-hand that it's fantastic! Check out the details below...
