When I was in L.A. for the World Premiere of Avengers: Infinity War last month, I happened to pass by AJ McLean on the purple carpet as we both browsed the Marvel Studios: The First Ten Years display. We didn't speak, but there was a small flashback to when the Backstreet Boys were superheroes themselves for a short period of time - turned into toys for Burger King alongside a comic that they collaborated on with Stan Lee. Feeling old, that was nearly 20 years ago, and today comes news that the Backstreet Boys have signed to RCA Records on the heels of their 25th anniversary. Doing up the signing announcement right, the news comes alongside a new single - “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart” today May 17th, along with its official music video directed by long time BSB collaborators Rich + Tone. Check it out below...
On July 30, the BACKSTREET BOYS, complete with all five original members - Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, Brian Littrell, AJ McLean and Kevin Richardson, will release their 20th Anniversary album, IN A WORLD LIKE THIS. Just ahead of their July 2 tour kick-off in Chicago, the group has unleashes the title track to the new album. "In A World Like This" is available now on iTunes, and can be streamed below.
I was working on the retail side of the music business at the height of the "boy band" craze in the late 90's/early 00's, and the BACKSTREET BOYS were a staple of that era. Now that they're literally "back," the 'Boys have crafted an original holiday song for 2012 entitled "It's Christmas Time Again." Listen to the song below, then hit this link to buy it on iTunes if you dig it.
