Clutch covered Howlin' Wolf's "Evil" as the first single in a series of new studio recordings that will comprise the newly launched Weathermaker Vault Series. The new series marks the first new music from the band since the release of the recent Book Of Bad Decisions.
“Evil” was mixed by 6X Grammy Award winner and Clutch collaborator, Vance Powell (Wolfmother, The Raconteurs, Arctic Monkeys).
"We’ve had a good amount of downtime since our last tour. And since the devil finds work for idle hands, we kept ourselves busy by recording some tunes. “Evil” is the first of them, a song we’ve loved for many, many years," says Clutch frontman Neil Fallon
Later this week, Clutch will embark on a tour of European festivals and headline dates, followed by a July 12th-August 4th co-headline US tour with Killswitch Engage that also includes Clutch’s curated Earth Rocker Festival in Inwood WV.
One of my favorite bands is CLUTCH - a band I often cite as one of my "Top Five of All-Time." As they continue to support their latest album, PSYCHIC WARFARE, a new video has arrived for "A Quick Death in Texas," and you can check out the appropriately western-themed clip from director David Brodsky below.
When people ask what my "top five" favorite bands are, I usually have a problem with the fifth spot. When it comes to all-time favorites, I can tell you the "top four," and one of those bands is CLUTCH. This October, the band will release PSYCHIC WARFARE through their own Weathermaker Music, their latest dozen-track sonic assault, and one whose pending release has just jumped to the top of my most-anticipated records for the second half of 2015.
I have to say, since BORDERS went out of business, I have not seen a copy of UK-based METAL HAMMER on the racks anywhere near me. That said, there's a reason why METAL HAMMER is one of the last print mags standing, and they continue to show that every month. For METAL HAMMER 253, their February 2014 issue, they've taken things into STAR WARS territory, with the entire issue taking inspiration from a galaxy far, far away, starting off with a cover by SIXMOREVODKA (said to have the "blessing of LUCASFILM). The mag goes on-sale January 7 (you can order direct from their UK site), or you can subscribe via (my affiliate) Amazon, though you probably won't get this one in time. Take a peek...
I'm late on this one. In fact, I think it's the first time in several album cycles that there's been a new CLUTCH record out that I haven't been able to get reviewed in time for release day. The reason? I'm The Rock Father now - a work-at-home Dad with two little ones running around. I'm an unapologetic CLUTCH fan, dating back to the days of the TRANSNATIONAL SPEEDWAY LEAGUE - a record that's 20 years old as of this year. As a guy that's literally worn out a few CLUTCH shirts (my favorite was the one with dual SGs on the sleeves - complete with flames) and hats over the course of two decades, I don't think the Maryland purveyors of fine rock can do much wrong. That said, I do have a problem with EARTH ROCKER, their 10th studio album...
It's no secret that CLUTCH is one of my favorite bands. I've written about them constantly over the past decade or so... have worn and worn out several CLUTCH t-shirts, and my CLUTCH ballcap is in need of replacement. Even The Rock Daughters at 7-months and 3-years know the power of the mighty CLUTCH. Well, tonight just got good, because the band has unleashed the official lyric video for "Earth Rocker," the title track from their new album - out March 19, 2013 on Weathermaker Music. Crank it up below!
