This May, Dropkick Murphys and Rancid will hit the road together for the first time since 2017, for the co-headlining Boston To Berkeley II Tour with special guests Scottish singer-songwriter Gerry Cinnamon (on select dates) and Jesse Ahern supporting. Each night will culminate with Dropkick Murphys and Rancid on stage together for a joint encore.
As was the case on the original From Boston To Berkeley run in 2017, the final band of the night will vary by date, with either Dropkick Murphys or Rancid as the closing act.
Tomorrow is St. Patrick's Day, and like the Chicago River this weekend, it's time to break out the "green" for some shamrock-themed fun for the whole family. One oddity this year is that Addie's school is celebrating it as "Clover Day," which is a term I've not heard before. If they're trying to be "PC" by de-Sainting it, that strikes me as weird since Christmas and Hanukkah weren't renamed... even if you don't celebrate it, that doesn't change the name (maybe that's just me). Regardless, here's a few pieces of St. Paddy's Day fun...
A lot of you know this already, but I love the DROPKICK MURPHYS. If you read The Rock Father regularly, you also know that I'm a big fan of the lullaby collections released by Roma Music Group under their Twinkle Twinkle Little Rock Star line. Well, on June 18, two worlds collide when LULLABY VERSIONS OF DROPKICK MURPHYS hits the streets... and your baby's nursery. The TTLRS crew was kind enough to let me be the first to share the full details on the new album, along with the cover art, tracklisting, and a preview stream of "I'm Shipping Up to Boston." And, if you pre-order it now on iTunes, you'll get the track right away as an instant download!
Detroit best be getting ready for the Rock N Roll goodness that's set to descend upon Belle Isle on June 8th & 9th, 2013. METALLICA has just announced the lineup for their second annual festival, one that makes me wish this was taking place closer to home here in Chicago. Headliners will include Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rise Against, Deftones and Bassnectar. Other acts include the mighty TOMAHAWK, along with DROPKICK MURPHYS, FU MANCHU, THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN, Gogol Bordello, Foals, The Joy Formidable, Death Grips, and more. Watch the video below...
This is one of those that was a toss-up as to where to file it here on The Rock Father... not really "music for kids," but not just "for grownups" either. Since it's more of a track for rockin' families in general, I'm just putting the new video from the DROPKICK MURPHYS here in my blog. In fact, I think that going forward, any holiday music that's not specifically kid-centric will go in my blog instead of "news." You could say it's some "Housekeeping" in a way. In terms of the holidays, "The Season's Upon Us," and that just so happens to be the name of the DROPKICK MURPHYS' new single and video. Check it out!
Currently in the midst of a run of European tour dates--including a performance at the UK’s 10th annual Download Festival--Dropkick Murphys have announced a September 21 show at Boston’s Bank Of American Pavilion waterfront amphitheatre as part of their “Halfway To St. Patrick’s Day Tour.” Additional September tour dates will be announced soon.
