When Hasbro relaunched STAR WARS action figures in the 1990s under the POWER OF THE FORCE banner, themed sets and "Cinema Scenes" were commonplace, often becoming sought-after for quite some time. In recent years there's been less of that, but that might be changing with the release of the STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS Takodana Encounter Action Figure Set, a four-figure collection that made a huge splash as Toy Fair back in February. While it does seem a tad odd that John Boyega's Finn, Daisy Ridley's Rey, and the lovable Astromech Droid BB-8 would be paired-up since many people probably already have them in some form or another, the big draw here is that this set marks the action figure debut of Maz Kanata, the scene-stealing alien played by Lupita Nyong'o via motion capture. This set captures our heroes as they were in the film when Rey felt drawn to a curious trunk containing the lightsaber formerly owned by both Anakin Skywalker and his son, Luke. One of the coolest elements of the set is that the trunk itself is included, and it's now up for pre-order through my allies at Entertainment Earth!

Among the more unexpectedly-cool items to arrive in the world of STAR WARS collectibles this past year are the Nesting Dolls that PPW Toys has been putting out. After successful "Old Trilogy" collections including themed sets for The EmpireThe RebellionJabba's Palace and a Jedi & Droids batch, J.J. Abrams' record-breaking STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS has now received the nesting doll treatment. Available now from Entertainment Earth, PPW's first collection from the new trilogy includes BB-8, Rey, Finn, Poe Dameron and Kylo Ren. Having previously-reviewed The Rebellion set here on THE ROCK FATHER Magazine, I was excited when PPW had these sent over... but truth be told, it's really our own little Finn who has really become enamored with the nesting dolls, incorporating them into her regular STAR WARS play with big sister Addie.

This Friday, March 4, is the third annual ACTION FIGURE WORK DAY. Now, you might hear it called "Bring Your Action Figure to Work Day" or "Take Your Action Figure to Work Day," but it's all the same thing, and what's important is that you do, indeed, take or bring an action figure to work. In addition to spreading the joy of toys and collectibles, you should take a picture of your figure in it's new working environment, and then tag said picture on social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, Pinterest) with both tags: #AFWDatEE and #AFWD2016. See for me, I take action figures to work every day, but for you... well, this is an opportunity to win some cool prizes that my friends at Entertainment Earth will be dishing out at random. Prizes like the EE-Exclusive GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Comic Edition MARVEL Legends Action Figure Set by Hasbro - a $119.99 value.

Here They Come... THE MONKEES Action Figures

Though the series arrived 10 years before I was born, I found myself enamored with THE MONKEES during re-runs on WFLD Channel 32 here in Chicago - the same place were I first experienced many cool things as a kid (1966 BATMAN, THE GREEN HORNET, GREAT SPACE COASTER, etc.). I'm not sure what the current status is of new listeners finding their music (I've played it for The Rock Daughters on vinyl), or new viewers experiencing the show, but the folks at Figures Toy Company are releasing several different series' of MONKEES action figures, all done in a 1970s Mego-style, much like they've done with THE DUKES OF HAZZARD, KISS and the DC Comics SUPER FRIENDS. Announced over a year ago, these were actually supposed to have been released last Fall, but they're coming to Entertainment Earth this Spring...

It's no secret that Entertainment Earth is the go-to source for a phenomenal assortment of pop culture toys and collectibles, and while they're known for having those hard-to-find items, their exclusives are really special. Today comes the full reveal of something they've been teasing for a little bit - the Fantasy Figure Gallery DC Comics Collection Wonder Woman Variant Resin Statue, an Entertainment Earth Exclusive by Yamato USA that places the iconic sword and shield into the hands of the Amazonian Princess, presenting her in a battle-ready pose complete with exclusive outfit deco! Take a peek....

With J.J. Abrams' STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS now in theaters, Entertainment Earth is raising the flag high as a premiere destination for the best in STAR WARS toys and collectibles - many of which are exclusives that you won't find anywhere else! One of the most-anticipated releases this holiday season is their STAR WARS Black Series Imperial Forces 6" Action Figure set by Hasbro, and now we're giving you a chance to win one (ARV $99.99)!
