I've featured the metallic covers of Leo Moracchioli here on the site before, and with each one, I tend to feel that the Norwegian musician is a kindred spirit on the other side of the world. Aside from being a fellow "Rock Father" (he has a daughter as well), his musical inclinations tend to head in a similar direction, with frequent metallic covers of songs that run the gamut from pop to soundtracks and beyond. His latest really hits home as it's a song that I've actually covered myself - Danny Elfman's iconic theme to The Simpsons. The Frog Leap Studios version is admittedly much better than my own Saturday Action Theatre edition (from the 2004 Remakes & Sequels EP), but I'm including both for your listening enjoyment below along with Green Day's 2007 punk version and Powerglove's 2010 metal take!

It's looking like a good fall for music, and one upcoming record that's on my radar is GREEN DAY's REVOLUTION RADIO. Due out on Reprise Records on October 7, a few samples of new music have already been released, the latest of which comes in music video form. "Bang Bang" was directed by RANCID frontman Tim Armstrong, who shot the new clip in Venice Beach, CA. Check it out via the Facebook player below...

Yesterday, as Santa Claus,  Rudolph and the other eight reindeer prepared to make their annual flight around the Globe, GREEN DAY added a fresh new song to their 2015 Holiday Music Playlist. Stream "Xmas Time of Year" below, and Merry Christmas to all of you from all of us here at Rock Father HQ!

It's official. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has announced the eight artists that will be inducted into the Hall of Fame for 2015, narrowed from a field of 15 nominees that were announced this past October. Making the cut this year are RINGO STARR, LOU REED, BILL WITHERS, THE '5' ROYALES, THE PAUL BUTTERFIELD BLUES BAND, STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN and DOUBLE TROUBLE, and the one that makes me take note of getting older, GREEN DAY. Take a look at what the Rock Hall has to say about each of the eight inductees below, right here on THE ROCK FATHER...
