"Halls of Justice Painted Green/Money Talking..."

As Metallica's legendary album "...And Justice For All" celebrates its 30th anniversary, you're gonna want to set aside a little bit of that green (around $11 or so) for the new LADY JUSTICE Pop! Vinyl figure from Funko! Just-announced, this iconic statue is brought to life once more as a 3 3/4" vinyl figure in a way that only the folks at Funko can. My friends at Entertainment Earth just put pre-orders online, with an expected ship date of November... just in time for the November 2 release of the expanded edition versions of the album. Sadly, word on the street is that Jason Newsted's mighty basslines may still be missing (or at least barely audible).

Anthony Vincent of Ten Second Songs is back with a new video, and this time he's putting a metallic spin on ten pop songs. "10 Songs in the Style of METALLICA" pairs Vincent with guitarist EROCK for a quick blast of what some famous tunes would've sounded like, had they been penned by James Hetfield and Co. So who gets the 'Tallica treatment? Taylor Swift, Outkast, Alanis Morissette, Abba, Toni Braxton, Britney Spears, Nickelback, Seal, Juvenile and Darude are on-deck. Check this out...

Oddly mesmerizing, and strangely soothing... today popular metal YouTuber Rob Scallon has uploaded a cover of the METALLICA classic "For Whom the Bell Tolls," played in its entirety on bells... or bell-sounding instruments like a children's xylophone.  It's a great video to start the week, month, or as Rob calls it - "MAY-TALLICA." Take a look:

What a month for award show screw-ups, right? Not a month prior to the massive mess that closed out this year's Academy Awards, a technical problem managed to botch what should've been (and to an extent, still was) an explosive performance by Metallica with Lady Gaga. While a fan tried fixing the audio using another live recording of "Moth Into Flame" to replace James Hetfield's missing vocals (since scrubbed from most of the internet), today we have the real deal, thanks to newly-released dress rehearsal footage. Yes, it's always awkward to hear the canned "crowd noise" that bookends these things - especially devoid of audience - but I think this performance is entertaining, and it sounds great when heard as it should've been during the 59th Annual Grammy Awards last month. When I first started this site after switching gears some years back (the result of having kids and being dubbed "The Rock Father™") - the original concept involved regular features on "fellow Rock Fathers" as we shared stories about raising kids while juggling work in the entertainment industries. While the site has evolved, I generally don't focus too much on that aspect of things (sans Father's Day time), but once in awhile something comes up that needs to be shared. A perfect example is last night's appearance by METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich on The Late Late Show with James Corden. Turns out that Hardwired... to Self-Destruct was recorded during the day, while the band members' kids were at school. As Lars details his own running between kids in multiple schools and the "Parent Taxi Service," his schedule seems pretty familiar, especially since I'm typing these digital words in the space between dropping off and picking up the youngest from Pre-K. Check out the interview below...
