When it comes to music, one thing that's pretty stale is the habit of making fun of Nickelback. In fact, I only cite Possible Oscar's "How We Recycle" as an acceptable parody, but even that is old - originally from 2007. Nickelback has a new album out, and FEED THE MACHINE is doing pretty well in bringing the rock to the mainstream masses. With their new video, "The Betrayal Act III," they show off what they do so well - mixing the heavy and the poppy, essentially setting the bar for radio rock, but with some real punch. It's heavy but hooky at the same time. Check it out... it's completely acceptable to do so.

Fans on smartphones at concerts are a hot button issue for both artists and fans alike. On one hand, it can be seen as intrusive and taking away from the spontaneity of the live performance, but on the other - it can provide for a captured memory that may live forever on YouTube, and often serve as a snapshot of something historic. While the devices have changed, fan-filmed official videos are not a new thing. Beastie Boys made an entire (excellent) movie by putting cameras into the hands of their fans, and Metallica has been allowing filming since the Snakepit days of the Black Album tour cycle. Now it's Slipknot getting into the action, with an official, crowd-sourced music video. Check out "Before I Forget" Live at Red Rocks below...

Here's Another New KORN Song: "Take Me"

When I first saw KORN perform live some 21+ years ago, I never would've expect that I'd be writing about them on a near-weekly basis in the fall of 2016. But here we are, just 10 days out from the release of THE SERENITY OF SUFFERING (Roadrunner Records, October 21), and yet another track from the album has been unleashed - "Take Me." Debuted this morning over at the Wall Street Journal, the new track brings some of that classic Korn groove to the masses. Check it out below...

Watch KORN's "Insane" New Music Video...

On October 21, KORN will release their 12th studio album, THE SERENITY OF SUFFERING via Roadrunner Records.. As a longtime Korn fan (I first saw them on the infamous "Reckoning Day" Tour with Megadeth, Fear Factory and Flotsam & Jetsam back in '95), I'm digging what they've been putting out thus far, and with the first single, "Rotting in Vain" blowing up the charts, it's a little surprising that we're already getting a second single and video. "Insane" made its official debut over at Loudwire this morning, and you can now watch and listen below...

So much rock. So little time. I cover 'Music for Kids' and 'Music for Grown-ups' here on The Rock Father™, and since so much news from the latter pours in here on a daily basis, there's just no way to cover it all... but I can do a lot, in bite-sized nuggets. Hence, The Random Rock N' More - quick one-liners on dozens of bands and artists, each with a link to delve deeper if you choose. The important info without the fluff. It's also the only real time that the 'For Grown-ups' music hits the homepage. We'll start with 'Rock' - from indie to mainstream, metal to punk, and everything in-between - then shift to 'N More' for some other genres. Here's updates on over 36 bands and artists for May 5, 2012.
