Cool Kickstarter Features are promoted/sponsored looks at crowdfunding campaigns of note...

The 90s were a strange and wonderful time, and for me, the highlight of my personal music growth. While I've always considered myself to be "musically schizophrenic," the 90s are largely to blame - an era when grunge, industrial, the big band revival, nu metal and "third wave" ska came into play. The latter is being explored in a new documentary, Pick It Up! - Ska in the '90's, and film that's already building excitement by becoming fully-funded on Kickstarter in just 7 days (121% funded with 27 days to go, as of this writing). Check out the trailer and details below, and if you dig it - you can still get involved. They've opened up new perks and goals that will help the filmmakers craft the best film possible.

"New Sound" was directed by Piper Ferguson (who also took the picture up top), and features a house party with an appearance by Fishbone's Angelo Moore. Check it out...

Having covered THE DIRTY HEADS at length on the last site I worked for, I've long-respected the band while not necessarily getting into them. Despite loving surf rock, I'm not a big 'beach' guy, and that's probably what kept them at a distance. I tend to skip the Jimmy Buffett and leave the Sublime with Rome to someone else. With the release of THE DIRTY HEADS' latest album, CABIN BY THE SEA (out now in standard and deluxe editions), something hit me and became very clear: their sun-drenched, beach-infused vibes are irresistible.

''Crash is kidnapped by a villain who's half-man, half-ant! That's bad enough -- but ManAnt also has evil plans to grow a whole army of giant ants!'' reads the official description for the series premiere of THE AQUABATS! SUPER SHOW! which aired the past Saturday on The Hub. Yes, the long-awaited (by people like me) Aquabats! show has arrived - but how is it?
