It's time to let you in on a little secret... about seven months ago, I had a chance to see the next evolution of Spin Master's Hatchimals: HatchiBabies! Available on Hatchimals Day, October 5, the new arrivals to the Hatchery Nursery are available for pre-order now through October 4 (while supplies last) at retailers across the country including Target, Walmart and Amazon. One of the biggest and most fun parts of the Hatchimals experience is the mystery and excitement of the hatching itself, so we're not going to tell you the species just yet - you'll have to wait until the due date to see what this year’s newest species looks like. What I can tell you is that there's a new surprise element at play: inside each speckled egg is either a boy or girl! Once hatched, kids will discover there are secret compartments, each adding even more play opportunities for playtime with the HatchiBaby once he or she is out of the egg.

Cool Kickstarter Features are promoted/sponsored looks at crowdfunding campaigns of note...

Storyball, a revolutionary and award-winning, interactive smart ball that encourages children to keep active and playful, launches today. Using screen-free technology, sound cues, haptic feedback, and A.I. machine learning, Storyball engages a child in active, educational and stimulating play. The Kickstarter campaign, which is being managed by the Launchpad Agency, launches today and has a funding goal of $30,000 USD (it's halfway there as of this writing).

With summer officially here, that means a lot of wet fun for a good percentage of the population. Personally, my family thinks I'm a party pooper since I don't particularly care for swimming, and like Anakin Skywalker I'm not a big fan of sand either so that makes me a ton of fun at the beach. But my kids love the water - in fact, they've been in swimming lessons since shortly after birth and they make me pretty proud. Where I draw the line is with putting a pool here at Rock Father HQ (I love our big, solid yard). Fortunately, Grandma has one, and that's been the perfect spot to enjoy some of the new inflatables from the folks at Swimways (a subsidiary of Spin Master). After seeing a few at Toy Fair, we received a few for review, and the ones that they sent are pretty appropriately themed for my areas of expertise - they're Star Wars and Marvel.

The collectibles realm continues to expand, and this summer Spin Master is going POP!  The toymaker has just launched a brand new line of collectible dolls and accessories called Party Popteenies. There's 25 miniature dolls to collect from across three different themed parties – Winter Wonderland Surprise, Cutie Animal Surprise and Rainbow Unicorn Surprise. For the new collection, Spin Master is getting into the surprise/reveal/unboxing craze by giving kids a chance to have elements of each in every Party Popteenies toy - right down to the packaging which resembles gift boxes and party favors. Check out the first commercial and full details below, along with the debut Party Popteenies music video!

Earlier today, Spin Master's official Etch A Sketch Instagram did a repost of an incredible creation from Willie Witte aka M.C. Etcher aka happy.little.etch. It's a quickly-iconic shot from Childish Gambino's "This Is America" music video - a clip directed by Atlanta helmer Hiro Murai that's racked-up nearly 60 million plays in just under four days. The incredibly multilayered video (see it here) has been a subject of intense discussion and dissection that began immediately following the performance of the song by Gambino (Donald Glover) on Saturday Night Live this past weekend. See the Etch A Sketch creation below, and be sure to swipe left on the Instagram embed to see video of it's making in progress.

At Toy Fair in New York last month, the Spin Master booth was a center of constant activity. While their offerings are diverse, their television brands are a big deal, and we're now entering into the second year for Rusty Rivets, which airs daily on Nick Jr. Last year, the much-anticipated toy line first hit the scene as a Toys "R" Us Exclusive, but this year it's a wide-release meaning that parents should be able to find these just about anywhere. While I was personally hoping to see a Mobile Rivet Lab Playset on display (it might've been too new), that didn't happen but a lot of other great items have materialized. The Rock Father™ is excited to present to you a full look at the 2018 Rusty Rivets toy line, complete with suggested pricing and availability dates below. Get ready to Combine It and Design It!
