On June 10, REELZ Channel will drop the curtain on their new original docu-series, Breaking the Band. Season one will take a look at the battling egos, power struggles and inter-band rivalries that split up The Beatles, The Supremes, Fleetwood Mac, The Eagles, The Beach Boys, N.W.A, Van Halen and Sonny and Cher. From crippling drug addictions to scandalous affairs Breaking the Band uncovers the incredible true stories by recreating the key moments the cameras missed in addition to using rare band interviews and off-stage footage to piece together each dramatic tale. The folks at REELZ sent over a short clip, which I debuted on Twitter this morning. Check it out below...

Netflix #StreamTeamThe Rock Father™ is a writer for the Netflix #StreamTeam & the Beat Bugs Dream Team

When the Netflix Original Series BEAT BUGS made its debut in 2016, families were quickly immersed in a vibrant new world inspired by the timeless music of THE BEATLES.  Following the adventures of five best friends -- Jay, Kumi, Crick, Buzz and Walter -- who band together to discover life's most important lessons in an overgrown suburban backyard -- Beat Bugs encourages lessons of friendship and problem-solving while introducing a new generation to some of the greatest songs of all-time. Mixing classic and contemporary, here The Beatles' music is performed by an all-star line-up of artists including Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder, Pink, Robbie Williams, Sia, Rod Stewart, Regina Spektor, James Corden, and late Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell. With two seasons already streaming in full on Netflix, the Beat Bugs adventures are just getting started...

Netflix #StreamTeamOne of this year's most surprising new series' for families comes from Netflix, with BEAT BUGS bridging generations by introducing new listeners to the music of THE BEATLES through the adventures of five best friends -- Jay, Kumi, Crick, Buzz and Walter -- who band together to discover life's most important lessons in an overgrown suburban backyard, which to them is their entire universe. When the first 13-episode season began streaming earlier this month, it was an immediate hit right out of the gate here at Rock Father HQ, but for us it came with a challenge posited by the leaders of the Netflix #StreamTeam, a crew I've been a part of for the past three years: Cover "All You Need Is Love" and invite all of you to do the same. BEAT BUGS opens with a 30-second rendition of the 1967 single from the Lennon-McCartney songbook, and just as the original is said to have taken 33 takes to get right, The Rock Daughters™ and I (with Mommy behind the camera) couldn't quite nail it in one shot...

It's no secret that when it comes to Hot Wheels (and diecast vehicles in general), I really love the "star cars" - those inspired by television and film, or those with some other kind of pop culture spin. This week, Mattel made the official announcement that for the first time ever, THE BEATLES and HOT WHEELS have teamed-up for a collection of seven vehicles - each meant to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the band's 1966 single, "The Yellow Submarine," and the film that followed it two years later.

beatles125Just in-time for the Holiday Season, THE BEATLES will release ON AIR: LIVE AT THE BBC, Vol. 2 (out 11/11). This 63-track collection (which I previously covered here) is the official follow-up to the 1994 album, LIVE AT THE BBC, which sold five million copies in under six weeks. While this new collection has secured a spot right here in my 2013 Holiday Gift Guide, the folks at Universal Music are letting me get one lucky reader hooked-up with the 2-CD set. It would make a great gift for THE BEATLES fan on your list.
