If there is one metal band you need to see this year, PRODUCT OF HATE is that band. I've been championing them since I first saw them perform live back in 2009, and now, as their co-manager, indeed I'm biased, but I'm also confident that once you see them perform live, you'll feel the same way. Check out the announcement below...

Are you ready to be BURIED IN VIOLENCE? This Spring, PRODUCT OF HATE will hit the road for their first tour since the release of their Napalm Records debut, BURIED IN VIOLENCE. Hailed as "One of 12 Bands to Watch in 2016" by Metal Hammer/Team Rock, PRODUCT OF HATE will perform a hometown tour warm-up show at Route 20 Outhouse in Sturtevant, Wisconsin on April 22 (with special guests LevRage and Left With Tomorrow), before heading out on a U.S. run in support of MUSHROOMHEAD.  Following the success of their recent single and video for "Monster," the band has filmed two more music videos, the first of which, "Kill. You. Now." is expected to be released in the coming weeks. See the full run of currently confirmed live dates for PRODUCT OF HATE below, and stay tuned for more dates to be announced in the near future.

Watch & Listen: DAWN OF ASHES - "Tribe of Chemosh"

Written by

In a past life, I had a little bit of association with DAWN OF ASHES... some mutual friends in Robert Kurtzman's Creature Corps... and I witnessed the major change in the DOA stylings as they released one album and an EP through Metal Blade Records, eventually embarking on a tour with Dimmu Borgir. For a few years there was some question of identity, with the band switching to Metropolis Records and releasing what was thought to be their last album, leader Kristof Bathory announcing the retirement of DOA in 2013. Label and lineup changes endured, DAWN OF ASHES has risen again in 2016, with a new album THEOPHANY, set for a May 20th release... and to the surprise of some, it looks to be a combination of all the styles that DOA has performed in the past, from the electronic and industrial... to the metallic once more. Check out the lyric video for "Tribe of Chemosh."

Announced back in February, Hasbro Studios and Sony Music have officially released TRANSFORMERS ROLL OUT, an alternative rock tribute to the mighty TRANSFORMERS franchise. Available now at all digital retailers and for streaming on Spotify, TRANSFORMERS ROLL OUT features 10 original songs from a mix of established acts such as BUSH, and up-and-comers like MOUNT HOLLY - all inspired by the everlasting battle between Autobots and Decepticons. For the hardcore TRANSFORMERS fan, a physical CD and limited-edition vinyl picture disc (shown below) are being offered exclusively at F.Y.E. stores.

Video Debut: Milton J and the Leftovers - "Sun"

Written by

The journey of Fatherhood is different for everyone - an experience of learning and growth for each traveler. Every father has a story, and since launching this website, I've heard many tales spun by fellow "Rock Fathers" from all walks of life. Today comes the lyric video for "Sun" from MILTON J and the LEFTOVERS, a very DIY, and almost "handmade" love letter to Milton's boy, set to a track from their new album, VAIN WISDOM (iTunes | Amazon).

What an election year this is shaping up to be. As much as I try to keep it out of these virtual pages, politics are unavoidable. No matter what side you're on, there's a good chance that you're tired of all the b.s., and with that Andrew W.K. has announced the formation of a new political party, The Party Party. The goal is simple: "to remove the disillusioning aspects of politics and just have the party." Check out the full announcement and reveal video below...

Matt Zane and SOCIETY 1 have been plotting a tribute to THE DOORS for quite some time, but now the plans have been laid out. Today the band released a video for their cover of "Wild Child," along with the launch of an IndieGoGo campaign intended to bring their tribute album to life. Their goal is "to completely re-envision what The Doors may have sounded like if they created their music in 2016." Check out "Wild Child" and the SOCIETY 1 pitch video below...

It was only a matter of time, and today that time has come... After making a huge splash last year as "Evie" in the Disney Channel Original Movie DESCENDANTS, Sofia Carson has signed an exclusive worldwide recording contract with Republic Records/Hollywood Records. Disney Music Group President Ken Bunt and Republic Records Chairman & CEO Monte Lipman made the announcement today, along with plans for Carson to premiere her debut single, “Love Is the Name,” on April 7 via Radio Disney, the same day the track ships to Top 40 Radio. The song follows Carson's solo version of the DESCENDANTS soundtrack hit, "Rotten to the Core," which has already garnered over 60 million video views.

Back in 2014, a helicopter descended upon the Hard Rock Hotel as KISS invaded Las Vegas for a historic nine-show run at The Joint. Now, for one night only on May 25, fans will be able to experience this spectacular night for themselves as KISS Rocks Vegas hits cinemas across the globe. From this blistering live show, fans can expect sky high flames, ear-bursting volume and a few drops of blood! Includes exclusive interviews with band and footage you will only see in the cinema. Details are scarce right now aside from the fact that theater locations will be revealed soon, with tickets to be made available on KISSmycinema.com. Additionally, select theaters will be screening the concert in Dolby Atmos.

In an election year, it's appropriate that the 2016 Journeys Alternative Press Music Awards, Fueled by Monster Energy has adopted a familiar red, white & blue color scheme as fan voting opens for the annual APMAS.  The nominees were revealed today via posts on Instagram and Twitter, along with a reminder that the show is being displaced from its longtime home in Cleveland due to the upcoming Republican National Convention. This year's event will instead be broadcast live from the Schottenstein Center in Columbus, Ohio on the evening of July 18, 2016, with 8-time AP cover artists Alex Gaskarth and Jack Barakat of ALL TIME LOW returning for hosting duties once more. And the nominees are...

It's no secret that we love Snoopy, Charlie Brown and the whole PEANUTS Gang here at Rock Father HQ. Much of the appeal for me has been the music of the Vince Guaraldi Trio, with Guaraldi's music fast-becoming just as iconic as the creations of Charles M. Schulz, and for many (likely myself included), a first introduction to jazz. Last year, Concord Music Group released PEANUTS GREATEST HITS as a remastered collection of some of the most memorable compositions, and now for 2016 it's been re-issued for the first-time ever as a Vinyl LP Picture Disc. This new record features Charlie Brown's face on Side A, with Lucy van Pelt adorning Side B, available now under the Fantasy Records imprint. Would you like to win a copy? THE ROCK FATHER Magazine has your shot!

Let me tell you this - it can be very hard to play real music on a toy guitar. It can be done, and when it's done well, the results can be fantastic. Formerly a guitar-slinger for OZZY OSBOURNE, the mighty ZAKK WYLDE has a great knowledge of the BLACK SABBATH catalog, so it's no wonder that he chose to whip out some Sabbath classics when Loudwire called upon him to rock the HELLO KITTY guitar in a sequel to last year's Mike Portnoy Hello Kitty Drums video. Check out the BLACK LABEL SOCIETY guitarist doing "N.I.B." unplugged...

When it comes to Industrial Music, I like mine best with a certain level of crunch to the guitars - where the sonic differences between and man (instrumentation) and machine (electronica) blend to just the right level. At some point in the mid-late 90s, that's when that style peaked - a time when I'd be cranking bands like 16 Volt, Sister Machine Gun, etc. One band I missed at the time was CIRCLE OF DUST, a project of Klayton, who later went onto CELLDWELLER fame. Now it's time to catch-up, as CIRCLE OF DUST is back, with their five original albums being reissued in bonus-heavy editions, one every eight weeks beginning March 4th, and it ends with a brand-new CoD album waiting at the end. With that announcement comes the first new music from CIRCLE OF DUST in nearly 20 years, "Contagion" - a song that perfectly captures that vintage vibe... a lot like FRONT LINE ASSEMBLY's MILLENNIUM, actually.
