L.A.-based producer/artist PRINTZ BOARD spent years collaborating with artists like The Black Eyed Peas, Mark Ronson, CeeLo, Justin Timberlake and DJ Mustard before stepping to the front a few years back. For summer 2015, Printz has a new single - one I can dig. "Rock N Roll" (featuring The Boardmemberz) was released a few weeks ago, and now comes the official video - one featuring appearances by SketchSHE, Ebonique (THE VOICE), pinup/glamour model Leanne Crow, singer/songwriter Ryan Cabrera and Vine star Wuz Good. Check it out below...

PEANUTS Brand AmbassadorWith Blue Sky Studios and 20th Century Fox releasing THE PEANUTS MOVIE on November 6, generations of fans both old and new are discovering the adventures of a boy named Charlie Brown. Those adventures with Snoopy, Linus and Lucy, Pig Pen, Peppermint Patty, Schroeder, The Little Red-Haired Girl and more are timeless, and I'm in the crowd that holds sincere hope that Steve Martino will have crafted a worthy companion when his film arrives in theaters. For THE PEANUTS MOVIE, it's composer Christophe Beck (ANT-MAN, FROZEN) that has some big shoes to fill - those once occupied by the Vince Guaraldi Trio. It was Guaraldi's music that became just as iconic as the creations of Charles M. Schulz, and for many (likely myself included), a first introduction to jazz. On July 31, Concord Music Group will release a new collection under the Fantasy label - PEANUTS GREATEST HITS. Featuring a dozen classic songs and all-new liner notes by Derrick Bang (author of the career-spanning book, VINCE GUARALDI AT THE PIANO), Concord Music Group and THE ROCK FATHER Magazine are pleased to give readers a chance at winning one of five (5) copies of the album on CD!

It's official: Papa Emeritus III has been crowned, and GHOST will release their third album, MELIORA on August 21st via Loma Vista Recordings. Sure, some call them "gimmicky," but I care not about that - they're probably my favorite current band right now, and I can't get enough. Check out their just-released new single, "From the Pinnacle to the Pit" below - and get it as an instant download with pre-orders of the new record on iTunes or Amazon. So groovy...

If you're into music history like me, a must-see for this year needs to be THE WRECKING CREW. Just-released on Blu-ray by Magnolia Pictures, Denny Tedesco's documentary was inspired by his father, Tommy - a member of the legendary, yet largely unknown musicians known as The Wrecking Crew - the true performers behind some of the biggest hits of the 60s and 70s. In fact, the sheer volume of famous tunes that this crew contributed to is in large part the reason that this film (which started loose production back in 1996) took so long to get a proper release - the music licensing fees were expensive.  After some limited screenings, Tedesco raised funds via Kickstarter to get the licensing wrapped, and now it's available to the masses. The folks at Magnolia Pictures recently provided me with a couple of copies on Blu-ray, and one of those could soon be yours...

CLUTCH to Unleash PSYCHIC WARFARE this October...

Written by

When people ask what my "top five" favorite bands are, I usually have a problem with the fifth spot. When it comes to all-time favorites, I can tell you the "top four," and one of those bands is CLUTCH. This October, the band will release PSYCHIC WARFARE through their own Weathermaker Music, their latest dozen-track sonic assault, and one whose pending release has just jumped to the top of my most-anticipated records for the second half of 2015.

Last month, BREAKING BENJAMIN came roaring back in a big way with Benjamin Burnley leading his rejuvenated act to a #1 debut on the Billboard Top 200 chart with the release of their latest album, DARK BEFORE DAWN. To mark that milestone, BREAKING BENJAMIN has teamed-up with THE ROCK FATHER Magazine and a few other rock-centric sites to give readers* a shot at winning an iPad Mini loaded with the entire BREAKING BENJAMIN catalog! For your chance, simply check out the widget below or click here for the contest page, hosted by my friends at Total Assault.

Last year, SHAWN MENDES was declared Radio Disney's "Next Big Thing," and in 2015, that's been coming true. His debut album, HANDWRITTEN entered the Billboard Top 200 chart at #1 back in April, he's opening for TAYLOR SWIFT on select dates of her 1989 World Tour, and now he's got the first single and video for the forthcoming Disney Channel original movie, DESCENDANTS. "Believe" is a central theme in this new tale following the children of some iconic Disney villains, and you can get it now on iTunes with your pre-order of the film's Original Soundtrack (which also features Dove Cameron, Kristin Chenoweth and more). Check out the video below...

I dig SUGAR RAY - going way back to 1995's metallically-tinged LEMONADE AND BROWNIES. In the 20 years since, the band has certainly evolved, as has its frontman, MARK McGRATH. The former co-host of EXTRA is still rockin' the stage, while detouring into cinematic territory with roles in the upcoming JOE DIRT 2: BEAUTIFUL LOSER and SHARKNADO 3: OH HELL NO! While SUGAR RAY is still together (on tour now), McGrath has teamed with PledgeMusic to launch pre-orders for his debut solo EP...

Some of you may recall that I have a bit of history with FEAR FACTORY, having had the opportunity to work with them on some videos for their last album, 2012's THE INDUSTRIALIST. This summer, FEAR FACTORY is back with a new album on a new label, with their Nuclear Blast Entertainment debut set for release on August 7th. GENEXUS is that album, and today the first single arrived, hitting the net with a new lyric video by UK-based editor Scott Rudd. Check out "Soul Hacker" right now...

This week, Time-Life officially announced the release of three Limited Edition Clear Vinyl + Album Art Lithograph collections of ABKCO Records' albums by THE ROLLING STONES. 12 X 5, Let It Bleed and Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out! are all available now through the new Spotlight Gallery division of Time-Life, a new destination for a "selection of distinguished entertainment memorabilia and collectibles from renowned music icons, legendary artists, and acclaimed performers from stage and screen." Check out the trailer for THE ROLLING STONES' collection below!

Somewhere deep in the heart of Finland, STEVE "N" SEAGULLS is likely in a barn, hard-at-work on their next great folk-fueled metal cover. Having just completed the "hillbillification" of over a dozen classics from the likes of PANTERA, DIO, AC/DC and GUNS 'N ROSES, the band has been getting into the video realm pretty hard - the latest arriving this week in the form of "Run to the Hills." Indeed, the legendary IRON MAIDEN cut can be heard below... and seen... performed in a barn. There's also at least one reindeer pulling a sleigh. I think it might be Sven from FROZEN...

On June 16, the acclaimed documentary, THE WRECKING CREW comes home on DVD and Blu-ray from Magnolia Pictures. If you've ever listened to a hit record of the 1960s - then this film should strike your interest - the true story about the talented session players that were heard on some of the biggest records of the era. From THE BEACH BOYS to THE MONKEES, FRANK SINATRA to NAT KING COLE, SONNY AND CHER to THE THE BYRDS and beyond, these are the players who made the hits, and many audiences never knew of their existence until now. Check out a preview below...
