One of my favorite guitarists of all-time is PAGE HAMILTON, and that should come as no surprise seeing as his band HELMET is one of my top five favorite bands of all-time. Hamilton has also been involved in the art game for a bit, and on May 1st, "A Monumental Art Collection from Page Hamilton" will launch, and it's being called "abstract, vivid and built from guitar." Check out a teaser video below...

My embarrassing confession of the day is that somewhere... there exists a VHS tape in storage... one that contains footage of myself and a high school friend... both wearing our clothing backwards. Kid rap duo KRISS KROSS started a ridiculous fashion fad, and we spoofed it on my infamous cable access series, ZTV. I remember it as being terrible, and I'm sure that it was. On the flipside, I have no regrets in liking Kriss Kross' 1992 hit "Jump," and that's why I'm bringing you this tonight - the official music video for a new cover version by New Jersey band, DeathThrob. A little metal perhaps? Check it out...

Today I have an interesting one for you, the debut single from the Brooklyn-based band, Nevāda Nevada. "Anger Tango," (streaming below) is available now on iTunes and other digital retailers, a taste of what listeners can expect when their full-length WILD & GLOWING sees release somewhere down the road. The haunting track strikes with throwback familiarity - a multi-layered approach to it's instrumentation. There's a lot going on, and it sorta strikes me as the potential title theme for a non-existent indie-rock JAMES BOND film with a Shirley Bassey-vibe to the vocals. Check it out below and see what you think...

What a great way to start the week... FAITH NO MORE have just unleashed the second single from their forthcoming SOL INVICTUS (out May 19 on Reclamation/Ipecac), and they picked the perfect partner to do it with - MARVEL. "Superhero" popped up over on MARVEL.com yesterday, racking up over 107K streams for the song in just 24 hours - a welcome feat for a band that hasn't released an album since 1997. The track debut came alongside Ryan Penagos' interview with FNM Bassist Bill Gould (read it) in which some serious love for Jack Kirby and the Silver Surfer are thrown down.  Check out the track, and keep on reading below...

At this point, there is a cruise for everything. No matter what the interest - from music to Disney to Star Wars - you name it, you can find a ship that has it going on. When it comes to Hard Rock and Heavy Metal, the longest-running (and largest) is the MONSTERS OF ROCK CRUISE, which sets sail once more April 18-22. What rockers are riding the waves this time around? For 2015 it's Tesla; Europe; Night Ranger; Tom Keifer of Cinderella; Extreme; KIX; Queensryche; Krokus; The Winery Dogs; Stryper; Lita Ford; Black Star Riders; Y&T; Zebra; Black ’N Blue; Faster Pussycat; Honeymoon Suite; Tyketto; Keel; John Corabi; Kip Winger; Michael Sweet; Richie Kotzen; Mike Tramp; Joel Hoekstra; Derek St. Holmes; Ron Keel; Leatherwolf; Babylon AD; Bang Tango; Heavens Edge; Frank Hannon Band; Lillian Axe; Rhino Bucket; Pamela Moore; Gabbie Rae; Atomic Punks; and AJ’s Bravehearts. If you want to go, the folks behind the cruise just hit THE ROCK FATHER with info that there's just 34 cabins left. Read on for details...

Singer/Songwriter SABRINA CARPENTER can be seen regularly on GIRL MEETS WORLD, and tonight she debuted her new music video for "We'll Be the Stars" on Disney Channel. The song is out now as a digital single, and will be included on Sabrina's debut album later this spring. Her 2014 EP CAN'T BLAME A GIRL FOR TRYING is available as well. Check out the new video below...

What's the best news I'm gonna share here on THE ROCK FATHER today? It's that ALLEGAEON have announced the "Get Rekt" Tour, and in addition to including THE AGONIST on select dates, my boys, PRODUCT OF HATE (PoH) will be along for nearly the entire run. As some of you may know, in addition to running this website, I do have some other irons in the fire, one of which is serving as Co-Manager for PRODUCT OF HATE - my dear friends, who I've known since 2009 and have been working with since 2010. PRODUCT OF HATE will be touring in support of their debut album for NAPALM Records, which is currently being mixed by James Murphy (TESTAMENT, DEATH, OBITUARY) at SafeHouse Production in Florida. While a release date has not yet been set, you can check out the band doing what they do best when they roll through town with their brothers and sisters from ALLEGAEON and THE AGONIST. First-round dates below with more to-be-announced...

If you're a regular reader of this site, then you probably already know that FAITH NO MORE is not only my favorite band of all-time, but essentially the reason why I am who I am today. With their first album since 1997's ALBUM OF THE YEAR confirmed last September, today comes the official title, release date and tracklisting. On May 19, FAITH NO MORE will release SOL INVICTUS via Reclamation Recordings/Ipecac Recordings. The release will arrive just days after wrapping up their first U.S. Tour in nearly 18 years - a tour I was lucky enough to snag tickets for during a much-frenzied pre-sale window. Check out the SOL INVICTUS tracklisting below, right here on THE ROCK FATHER...

Last night, just as The 57th Grammys were getting rolling on CBS, I was stepping off a plane at Chicago's O'Hare Airport, just in from the Disney/ABC #McFarlandUSAEvent in Los Angeles. Had I jockeyed my schedule around, I could've stayed in L.A. a bit longer to attend the ceremony at the Staples Center (a couple offers had been extended), but there was just no way for it to work out. My personal relationship with the annual award show is a rocky one - loving it as a celebration of music on one hand, while looking at it as an extravagant relic of years' past on another - bestowing the coveted Gramophone trophy upon artists and releases that often are far from the "best," and sometimes miss-the-mark to create curiosities of legendary proportions (hat tip to JETHRO TULL, here). For the public (and even many artists), the "how" of these nominations and awards is often muddied by a lack of understanding as to the process of culling the nominees... which I will explain as simply as possible.

THE OFFSPRING sorta came out of nowhere today with the release of a brand-new single, "Coming For You." Streaming below in a "photo" video, the song is available direct from the band's webstore, along with iTunes, and should be available on all the usual digital retailers in the near future. THE OFFSPRING's next show announced takes place on April 4 in Tempe, AZ, and further tour dates have been promised...

This is the news I've been waiting for since FAITH NO MORE first reunited for their "Second Coming" shows that began in 2009...

FAITH NO MORE have announced their first North American Tour since 1997, and it's happening this April/May. At long last, the band will return to Chicago for a date at Concord Music Hall (5/7), and one way or another, I will be there. For those of you unfamiliar, not only is FNM my favorite band of all-time, but had it not been for them, my life could've taken an entirely different path. The reason? FAITH NO MORE were the first band to ever grant me an interview, and it happened back in 1992 when I was just 15 years old. In addition to the tour, the next single from their forthcoming new album has been revealed, with "Superhero" due out as a limited-edition 7" single on March 17, followed by a digital release on March 31...

When it comes to mashups, Austria's DJ SCHMOLLI is one of the best in the game, and as such I've written about his work on a few sites over the years (here's one of my favorites). This week, Schmolli places JAMES BROWN vs. MARK RONSON and BRUNO MARS for "American Uptown Funk," a mashup of the recent hit "Uptown Funk" and the 1985 classic, "Living in America" (ROCKY IV!). While the video was quickly up-and-down over at YouTube, Vimeo has a fresh version that you need to watch...
