Disney Metal is a Legit Thing Now...

Written by

Because March 31 was a Friday (new release day in the U.S.) and so many people were (foolishly) pushing their April Fool's jokes forward a day to take advantage of the working crowd, the news of "Metal Disney" was unfortunately timed. No, it is not a joke, and yes, it is very real. Released last Fall in Japan via Disney Music Group, Metal Disney is the first album by the D-Metal Stars, a group consisting of Obsession vocalist Mike Vescera and guitarist John Bruno, with former Ozzy Osbourne bassist Rudy Sarzo and drummer BJ Zampa (who also did a stint in Obsession). The 11-track compilation features symphonic power metal versions of iconic Disney themes, legitimized into the metal genre with an official stamp of approval from Mickey Mouse himself.

It's been one year since PRODUCT OF HATE (co-managed by The Rock Father™) released their Napalm Records debut album, Buried in Violence (iTunes | Amazon). In the time since, the band has seen their audience grow, and their extended family on Facebook is a big part of that. When they signed their deal, the band had just 2,000 likes on the service, a number that was at 5,000 the week of the album release. In the year since, PRODUCT OF HATE has seen that number swell, hitting 50,000 fans this week - a number that continues to grow. As a band in 2017, the best thing that can happen is that listeners tell their friends. It's old-school word-of-mouth in the digital age, and as a "thank you," PRODUCT OF HATE and The Rock Father™ are giving you a shot at winning a signed, "Tour Edition" White Vinyl LP copy of Buried in Violence

Watch - Driven: An Interview with Korn

Written by

Danny Wimmer Presents (DWP) is the outfit behind the biggest rock festivals in America. This spring and summer, you can see Korn performing at three of them -- May 6 at Monster Energy Carolina Rebellion, May 20 at Rock On The Rangeand then on July 15 they'll play the summer's biggest rock festival, Chicago Open Air. As the band gears-up for the coming festival season,  DWP asked the band "what drives them?" Here's what Korn frontman Jonathan Davis and guitarist James "Munky" Shaffer had to say. Check out Driven: Korn below

As some of you might know, I co-manage PRODUCT OF HATE (disclosure and all), and these past few months have been busy - but it's about to get busier. This week, we're finally able to drop the curtain on the details for the next big round of touring, and it happens in two legs this May-July. PRODUCT OF HATE will be out supporting their Napalm Records debut album, BURIED IN VIOLENCE, first on an East Coast run with SKINLAB (first tour in seven years!) and IKILLYA (new album, WAR FOR AN IDEA, out 6/2 on Urban Yeti Records). Then, the 2017 Summer Annihilation Tour finds PRODUCT OF HATE and IKILLYA making a trek across the U.S., with local support and special guests in each city. Confirmed dates below, with more to be added shortly...

With St. Patrick's Day coming up, it's pretty appropriate that Chicago's The Tossers have unleashed their latest music video, "Erin Go Bragh." The new single comes from Smash the Windows, their most recent album for Victory Records, just-released last week. Check it out below...

This summer, two heroes of the Southern California music scene will hit the road together, as Sublime With Rome and The Offspring join forces in July for dates across Canada, then connecting again in September for a US amphitheater tour.

Music Video: The Bunny The Bear - "I Am Free"

Written by

I've been writing about The Bunny The Bear for ages - so long that some of the writings were lost on sites that pre-date this one, though my first mention of the band here as "The Rock Father" dates back to 2011. One thing that particularly resonates (and is always reinforced thanks to social media) is that TBTB frontman Matthew Tybor became a "Rock Father" himself at almost the same time that I did - his son and my oldest daughter being the same age. In those years there has been some personal struggle, and for Tybor, the situation has at points been more dire. Those life experiences have shaped the band's latest album, The Way We Rust, and the new single, "I Am Free," is a prime example. Check out the new video and some background below...

As spring approaches, it's not too early to be thinking ahead to late summer - the heart of BBQ season. As those backyard parties really start to get going, looming in the distance is a really big one - and it's turning the "backyard BBQ party" into a full-blown traveling comedy and music festival.  Jeff Foxworthy and Larry The Cable Guy have teamed up to create RFD-TV presents Jeff & Larry’s Backyard BBQ Festivalcoming to multiple cities this summer, promoted exclusively by Live Nation.

What a month for award show screw-ups, right? Not a month prior to the massive mess that closed out this year's Academy Awards, a technical problem managed to botch what should've been (and to an extent, still was) an explosive performance by Metallica with Lady Gaga. While a fan tried fixing the audio using another live recording of "Moth Into Flame" to replace James Hetfield's missing vocals (since scrubbed from most of the internet), today we have the real deal, thanks to newly-released dress rehearsal footage. Yes, it's always awkward to hear the canned "crowd noise" that bookends these things - especially devoid of audience - but I think this performance is entertaining, and it sounds great when heard as it should've been during the 59th Annual Grammy Awards last month. Check this out...

New York's IKILLYA have been tearing it up for some years now, and this week comes official word that they've signed to Urban Yeti Records for the June 2, 2017 release of their third full-length album, War For An Idea. The new album comes after a relentless touring cycle for their previous album, one that saw the band visit and perform in four countries and nearly all of the lower 48 states. The first single for the new record is a timely track called "Your God," and the video first made its debut yesterday via MetalSucks. Check it out below, and visit the Urban Yeti store for pre-order packages.
