Let me tell you a few things about SHOCKWAVE. The mysterious metal/hardcore act has been an underappreciated gem of the heavy music world for nearly 20 years - and if the fact that their music is excellent wasn't enough to intrigue, their basis in the world of TRANSFORMERS lore should be. Back in my days running a Sam Goody store for the long-dead Musicland Group, I played OMEGA SUPREME - THE COMPLETE COLLECTION: 1996-2001 and their 2004 masterpiece, THE ULTIMATE DOOM (both released through Triple Crown Records) probably more times than our mall neighbors would've liked (and my store probably sold more copies than the norm as well). In the decade-plus since, I've mentioned the band here on THE ROCK FATHER on occasion (here and here), and have used their disguised Decepticon logo as a social profile pic on more than a few occasions. Bottom line: I love SHOCKWAVE, and you should, too. For Record Store Day 2015, THE WORLD IS OURS: THE COMPLETE RECORDINGS comes to vinyl...

It was one of the worst-kept secrets in all of rock these past few weeks, but now it's 100% official: Chris Adler, drummer of LAMB OF GOD, will join bassist David Ellefson and Dave Mustaine, the creative driving force behind MEGADETH for the recording of MEGADETH's forthcoming 15th studio album. Adler will be appearing as a guest on the album during the in-progress recording sessions.

One of my favorite guitarists of all-time is PAGE HAMILTON, and that should come as no surprise seeing as his band HELMET is one of my top five favorite bands of all-time. Hamilton has also been involved in the art game for a bit, and on May 1st, "A Monumental Art Collection from Page Hamilton" will launch, and it's being called "abstract, vivid and built from guitar." Check out a teaser video below...

My embarrassing confession of the day is that somewhere... there exists a VHS tape in storage... one that contains footage of myself and a high school friend... both wearing our clothing backwards. Kid rap duo KRISS KROSS started a ridiculous fashion fad, and we spoofed it on my infamous cable access series, ZTV. I remember it as being terrible, and I'm sure that it was. On the flipside, I have no regrets in liking Kriss Kross' 1992 hit "Jump," and that's why I'm bringing you this tonight - the official music video for a new cover version by New Jersey band, DeathThrob. A little metal perhaps? Check it out...

Today I have an interesting one for you, the debut single from the Brooklyn-based band, Nevāda Nevada. "Anger Tango," (streaming below) is available now on iTunes and other digital retailers, a taste of what listeners can expect when their full-length WILD & GLOWING sees release somewhere down the road. The haunting track strikes with throwback familiarity - a multi-layered approach to it's instrumentation. There's a lot going on, and it sorta strikes me as the potential title theme for a non-existent indie-rock JAMES BOND film with a Shirley Bassey-vibe to the vocals. Check it out below and see what you think...

What a great way to start the week... FAITH NO MORE have just unleashed the second single from their forthcoming SOL INVICTUS (out May 19 on Reclamation/Ipecac), and they picked the perfect partner to do it with - MARVEL. "Superhero" popped up over on MARVEL.com yesterday, racking up over 107K streams for the song in just 24 hours - a welcome feat for a band that hasn't released an album since 1997. The track debut came alongside Ryan Penagos' interview with FNM Bassist Bill Gould (read it) in which some serious love for Jack Kirby and the Silver Surfer are thrown down.  Check out the track, and keep on reading below...
