This coming March, audiences will finally get to experience one of the most buzzed-about new superhero films in years when Marvel Studios’ CAPTAIN MARVEL arrives in theaters. Following a massive year that saw the release of Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War and the recent Ant-Man and the Wasp, the Marvel Cinematic Universe will enter 2019 by going backward on the timeline for an adventure set in the early 1990s - an era left previously-unexplored in the MCU. With the stakes high, the arrival of Academy Award-winner Brie Larson as Carol Danvers signals the formal debut of what Marvel Chief Kevin Feige has famously noted as being a hero with powers that “are off the charts." While there's many secrets yet to be revealed about Captain Marvel and how the film connects to the forthcoming Avengers 4, there's one secret that I've been keeping that can now be revealed... I spent time on the set of CAPTAIN MARVEL.
Back in the early 2000s, there was a small company here in Illinois that made SMITI action figures - little Kubrick-style versions of bands like Metallica, Limp Bizkit, Powerman 5000, The Offspring and No Doubt. I had a few of the sets and they were pretty fun, but then the maker (Stevenson Entertainment) sorta disappeared. Fast-forward to tonight and I just had a flashback when Japanese toymaker brokker got in touch about their new SEX PISTOLS collection, set for launch in the U.S., UK and Japan in January of 2019. After previously focusing on Japanese bands, this marks brokker's first entry onto the global stage. The SEX PISTOLS set features articulated mini-figures that represent the UK punk icons in their "God Save the Queen" stage gear.
It was back in September that audiences first got a look at Marvel Studios' CAPTAIN MARVEL, and as we enter the all-important 3-month ramp-up to release, the second full trailer has been released! Fresh from its debut on ESPN's Monday Night Football, feast your eyes upon a fresh look at CAPTAIN MARVEL - in theaters on March 8, 2019. And stay tuned for more Marvel-ous news and features in the days ahead!
It wasn't long ago that I found myself playing host to nearly 250 Goosebumps fans for a special advance screening of Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween near Chicago. Now comes word that GOOSEBUMPS 2 (which seems to have lost the tagline) is coming home on Christmas Day on Digital, with the Blu-ray and DVD to follow on 1/15/2019. Slappy holidays, everyone! Check out the announcement video below!
When I shared the news in November that Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live would be making the rounds for its inaugural U.S. tour, one tantalizing possibility I discussed was the original "King of the Monster Trucks" joining the party... Bob Chandler's BIGFOOT. Turns out, the rumble on the horizon was true, and the iconic blue Ford will be on the tour in 2019! But what version of BIGFOOT will we see? If the artwork above is any indication, looks like a modern spin on the classic BIGFOOT 1.
