The film follows Martine (Olivia Thirlby), a 23-year-old artist from New York, as she arrives in Los Angeles to stay in the pool house of a family living in the hip and hilly community of Silver Lake. Peter (John Krasinski), the father, has agreed to help Martine complete sound design on her art film as a favor to his wife (Rosemarie DeWitt). Martine innocently enters the seemingly idyllic life of this open-minded family with two kids and a relaxed Southern California vibe. Like a bolt of lightning, her arrival sparks a surge of energy that awakens suppressed impulses in everyone and forces them to confront their own fears and desires.
NOBODY WALKS was directed by Ry Russo-Young (You Won’t Miss Me) and co-written by Lena Dunham (Tiny Furniture)
"Having worked with Ry on her previous film, You Won't Miss Me,” said Will Bates of Fall On Your Sword, “Ry and I developed a great work flow with a real sense of trust. She has good instincts. She knows exactly when something is right, whilst really giving me the freedom to explore.”
“Finding the tonal palette on Nobody Walks was the real key,” said Bates. “She [Russo-Young] wanted the score to evolve out of the movie as if it was born from sound design. We started with that simple idea, and the melodies and themes kind of just happened from there."
NOBODY WALKS is presented by Magnolia Pictures, currently available on VOD and in theaters on October 12, 2012.
