When the Netflix Original Series BEAT BUGS made its debut in 2016, families were quickly immersed in a vibrant new world inspired by the timeless music of THE BEATLES.  Following the adventures of five best friends -- Jay, Kumi, Crick, Buzz and Walter -- who band together to discover life's most important lessons in an overgrown suburban backyard -- Beat Bugs encourages lessons of friendship and problem-solving while introducing a new generation to some of the greatest songs of all-time. Mixing classic and contemporary, here The Beatles' music is performed by an all-star line-up of artists including Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder, Pink, Robbie Williams, Sia, Rod Stewart, Regina Spektor, James Corden, and late Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell. With two seasons already streaming in full on Netflix, the Beat Bugs adventures are just getting started...

Back in high school, the "Seattle Sound" was a huge part of my soundtrack (some of my friends and I thought that the Quad Cities - where I lived at the time - was "the next Seattle"), and one of the bands that was at the center of that was one of the most mysterious... Temple of the Dog. A supergroup featuring Soundgarden’s Chris Cornell, Pearl Jam’s Jeff Ament, Stone Gossard, and Mike McCready, and drummer Matt Cameron (who plays drums with both Soundgarden and Pearl Jam), Temple of the Dog released one album in 1991 and never toured, though both Soundgarden and Pearl Jam exploded. Now, 25 years later, the band has reunited and will tour for the first time ever since forming in 1990. Upon receiving the news, I immediately visited my archives here at Rock Father HQ and found that my Temple of the Dog CD has gone missing... so it may have to be replaced.

Netflix #StreamTeamTwo years ago, news hit that an Australian/U.S. Production company called GRACE had made an unheard-of deal with Sony Music/ATV Publishing to use THE BEATLES' song catalog in a children's series. Now comes the news that BEAT BUGS will debut as a Netflix Original Series this August, presenting over 50 famous songs of THE BEATLES, reimagined by artists such as PEARL JAM's Eddie Vedder, SOUNDGARDEN's Chris Cornell, Sia, Pink, Regina Spektor, The Shins and more - all woven into a world set in a suburban backyard. Check out a teaser and full details below!

Next Tuesday, the crew over at Roma Music Group will release their latest EP, LULLABY VERSIONS OF SOUNDGARDEN (Amazon | iTunes), an eight-song collection of the biggest hits and fan favorites from the Seattle band, re-worked into nursery-friendly jams for baby. The latest release comes on the heels of LULLABY VERSIONS OF STONE TEMPLE PILOTS and today's release of LULLABY VERSIONS OF CREED (Nooooo!). Check out "Black Hole Sun" (which my oldest daughter says is "So cute!") below, right here on THE ROCK FATHER...

After more than five years, it appears that the ROCK BAND franchise might finally be winding down it's cycle - at least for ROCK BAND 3. While I've often spoken of how they've kept families gaming together with fresh content via DLC each Tuesday, it appears that the pipeline is starting to slow down, with previously-released tracks appearing on ROCK BAND BLITZ now making their way into the Rock Band Music store. An announcement made earlier this month also puts the future in question a bit, though plenty of new DLC is still being promised. This week, BLITZ tracks from LIVING COLOUR, KELLY CLARKSON, QUIET RIOT, and SOUNDGARDEN become available for all...
