This is one of those things that occasionally gets my wheels turning... the though of throwing my hat into the ring, this coming from a sometimes director of music videos. Today comes the opportunity to helm a video for an icon - Sir Elton John - an artist whose catalog includes iconic songs that were released long before the video era really took hold. "Bennie and the Jets," "Rocket Man" and "Tiny Dancer" have never had an official music video, but now, in partnership with YouTube and in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the songwriting partnership between Elton John and Bernie Taupin, Elton John: The Cut will give three filmmakers to opportunity to create the official videos for those three songs. Check out the video playlist below for the announcement and details.

Is it too early to start thinking about Halloween? The correct answer to that is it's NEVER too early to be thinking about Halloween, and that's exactly what I'm thinking of now, as the folks at PBS Digital Studios in collaboration with Pemberley Digital have announced that they're putting a modern spin on the classic novel FRANKENSTEIN with their first scripted series, FRANKENSTEIN M.D. Three episodes will premiere on the PBS Digital Studios YouTube channel Tuesday, August 19, with the full run set to feature 24 episodes, each between five to eight minutes. New episodes will roll out weekly on Tuesday and Friday for 10 weeks, culminating in a dramatic Halloween finale on Friday, October 31.

If you're a parent with a preschooler in the house, chances are, you've seen quite a few productions from Brown Bag Films... and don't even know it. These days, the animation house is behind several Disney Junior hits like DOC McSTUFFINS, HENRY HUGGLEMONSTER, and THE OCTONAUTS, along with fare like Nickelodeon's OLIVIA. But back in the 00's, they did a series of 52 shorts called I'M AN ANIMAL, which aired in over 160 countries. Now, they've put the first ten episodes online - for FREE - on Youtube, with more expected to roll-out soon. Check out the first ten below, right here on THE ROCK FATHER...

uverseFINAL UPDATE: As of August 2013, I have switched to Xfinity by Comcast.

MORE UPDATES FOLLOW ORIGINAL POST: If you're an AT&T U-Verse Subscriber that happens to enjoy watching videos on YouTube, you might've noticed something irritating over the past few days: The two services don't seem to like each other anymore. Thousands of users (myself included) began experiencing service issues at roughly the same time on Saturday, February 15. I'm all for a good nostalgia trip, but a reminder of it was like trying to stream video to RealPlayer via a dial-up AOL connection is not my idea of a good time.

Think your house is Childproof just because you spent a ton of money on Childproofing/Babyproofing products that you installed correctly? Well, here at Rock Father HQ, our daughter has some different thoughts.

It's been awhile since I've posted anything purely self-promotional, so I guess we're overdue for a plug for The Rock Father on the different social sites around the web. In fact, my wife just asked a question that a few others have posited as well: "How come you have so many twitter followers, but not as many on Facebook?" Well, it's time to fix that. I appreciate all of you that visit and read The Rock Father regularly, and hope that you'll take a few moments to connect around the web. I 'm on Pinterest, and have a brand-new profile on Google+, and a page on the "New Myspace" which is currently in it's private beta. Links below!
