I absolutely love the original ROBOCOP, but completely missed this year's 2014-reboot when it hit theatres. Now, the folks at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios (MGM) and Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment hit my inbox with news that it's coming home on Digital HD May 20 and on Blu-ray, DVD and VOD June 3. Check out the specs below, right here on THE ROCK FATHER...

On April 19th, the annual Record Store Day will take place - a celebration of the independent music retailers that keep the torch burning for music lovers worldwide. This year, the lineup is large (as it has been in recent years), and one big highlight comes courtesy of Aleph Records, who have announced the label’s first ever vinyl release, BULLITT – soundtrack to the 1968 Steve McQueen film, composed by the legendary Lalo Schifrin (MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE, THE AMITYVILLE HORROR, RUSH HOUR). The individually numbered vinyl release will be limited to just 1,000 pieces.

Review - BAD ASS 2: BAD ASSES (DVD)

Written by

An email hit my inbox this week to inform me that Danny Trejo and Danny Glover have wrapped production on BAD ASS 3: BAD ASSES IN THE BAYOU. I didn't know that a third film was in production, and I haven't seen 2012's BAD ASS. But then I recalled another email - a link to a digital screener of BAD ASS 2: BAD ASSES, which is scheduled to hit Blu-ray and DVD on April 8th. With my family in bed and I settling in for another night of work in my office here at Rock Father HQ, I fired up Computer #2 and loaded-up BAD ASSES, fully expecting it to be filler. Much to my surprise, I can now blame it for delaying my work by an hour-and-a-half... It's actually an entertaining and fun little action flick, with a few really great performances thrown in.

FOX Blogger of the MonthThe folks at 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment have begun celebrating the 20th Anniversary of Fox Searchlight with eight new releases that are either making their Blu-ray debut, celebrating an anniversary, or being issued as an Amazon exclusive. I've got the rundown on this batch below, all of which are packed with bonus features. While a couple of these are already available, release dates for the upcoming titles is noted. Personally, I'm kinda weirded out that GARDEN STATE and NAPOLEON DYNAMITE are already a decade old. Take a peek...

2014 Best Picture Oscar Nominees... in coffee?

Written by

Going through my emails here at Rock Father HQ this morning, I came across something interesting... and timely. With the 86th Academy Awards taking place tomorrow night, "Latte Artist" Michael Breach has worked the 2014 Best Picture Nominees into incredible (and tasty) works of coffee delight. Oddly enough, if you combine Joaquin Phoenix from HER with Matthew McConaughey in DALLAS BUYERS CLUB, you'd get a pretty convincing Burt Reynolds from SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT. Check out the coffee art below, right here on THE ROCK FATHER...

I'm terrible about getting really involved or engaged in any regular television series at this point. People give me crap about it (never seen an episode of BREAKING BAD or SONS OF ANARCHY, stopped watching AMERICAN HORROR STORY and REVOLUTION after breaks in the series'), and right here we have something from another show that I started, but dropped the ball on... FX's THE AMERICANS. The first season of this drama about some Russian spies setting up shop in the U.S. during the 1980s just hit home video this week, and the folks at 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment hit THE ROCK FATHER with a special Public Service Announcement (PSA): Parenting 101. Take a look...

It's the first Tuesday of 2014, and for the first time ever, I'm presenting a rundown of the week's top new releases on Blu-Ray and DVD "For Grownups" here on The Rock Father. These titles are probably not family-friendly (though I have a list of those here), and would probably be best-viewed when you're enjoying some "YOU" time... here's what's hot for January 7, 2014...

It's time to kick off 2014 with a giveaway tied to what may be the first blockbuster film of the new year, THE LEGEND OF HERCULES. To celebrate the forthcoming release, Summit Entertainment and The Rock Father are giving readers a chance to win a move poster autographed by Hercules himself, actor KELLAN LUTZ (THE TWILIGHT SAGA's Emmet Cullen). One lucky reader will score this fantastic poster. Learn more about the film, and enter for your chance below...

Go Behind the Scenes of Disney's THE LONE RANGER...

Written by

Let's face it, when Disney released Gore Verbinski's THE LONE RANGER into theaters earlier this year, the film didn't exactly light up the box office. While I can't put my personal take on it yet (haven't seen it), I do know that it did pretty well in the toy department with some LEGO sets that became a bit of a cult hit on their own (there's a lack of quality Western toys out there). Now, the film is finally coming home on December 17th, and the crew at Disney have unleashed some behind-the-scenes images, clips and featurettes that I'm sharing here tonight. Could this be a film that finds it's audience on Blu-ray and DVD? Take a look...
