Disney News: Quick Updates on Doc McStuffins, Sofia the First, The Pirate Fairy, Frozen and more...

There's always a lot happening in the world of Disney, and today I've got some quick news bites on some new Apps for iOS users (featuring Disney Junior's DOC McSTUFFINS, SOFIA THE FIRST and MICKEY MOUSE), along with some home video blurbs on THE PIRATE FAIRY, THE JUNGLE BOOK 2, FROZEN, and MARY POPPINS. app docDOC McSTUFFINS: Moving with Doc

In this App, kids can practice healthy habits and explore the importance of exercise through engaging activities featuring Doc McStuffins and her friends. Discover the basics of eating right in exciting games and activities, and even compete in the Backyard Games! Additional features include:

  • Use the in-app camera to stretch with Doc
  • Keep track of healthy habits with the Healthy Me Chart
  • Discover new ways to be healthy and fit with fun activities
  • Offline tips, recipes, and more help grown-ups reinforce healthy habits

appmickeyMickey Mouse Mash-Up:

In this App, kids can follow along with Mickey Mouse in an adventure involving their own personally drawn character! Mickey and your creation will travel through cities, visit new places and experience incredible journeys, while encountering hi-jinx and hilarious events along the way. Additional features include:

  • Actual clips from the short “No Service!” – as seen on Disney Channel
  • Narration by Mickey Mouse himself!
  • Learn to draw objects from Mickey’s world and help him get through the story
  • Make a gallery of your own Mickey drawings

appsofiaSOFIA THE FIRST: The Floating Palace

Based on the recent “Sofia the First” primetime special, “Sofia the First: The Floating Palace,” in which Sofia is magically transformed into a mermaid. The special features an appearance by Princess Ariel from “The Little Mermaid,” voiced by Disney Legend Jodi Benson who reprises her iconic role from the animated film. The special also introduces a new character named Oona, a young mermaid voiced by Kiernan Shipka (“Mad Men”).

Additional features of Sofia the First: The Floating Palace include:

  • Beautiful animated and interactive storybook
  • A variety of characters, backgrounds, props, and music to personalize the theater’s stage
  • Multi-touch screen to play with a friend
  • Original voices from the popular Disney Junior series, “Sofia the First”
  • Record options to watch your performances over and over again

MARY POPPINS: THE 50th ANNIVERSARY EDITION just hit Blu-ray Combo Pack this week, and if you've ever wondered what a lyric video (a modern trend) would look like for "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" would look like, you're in luck! Check out a clip from the "Mary-oke" version:

While THE JUNGLE BOOK has already been announced for a February 11, 2014 release on Blu-ray, JUNGLE BOOK 2 has now been announced for Blu-ray combo pack on March 18. Further details to follow. Although no official announcement has been made yet, pre-orders for FROZEN on Blu-ray combo pack have already begun over at Amazon. On April 1, THE PIRATE FAIRY will arrive on Blu-Ray/DVD. My oldest is already really excited for this one, so you can bet you'll hear more from me about this title in the future. Check out the trailer below, and pre-order now.
