The Chicago Children's Theatre is answering the call for live theater for kids of all ages, with the addition of their Later Stages series. Launching this may, concurrent with it's presentation of Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia's THE VERY HUNGRY CATERPILLAR AND OTHER ERIC CARLE STORIES, SUPERMAN 2050 and LULA del REY will be presented for ages 8 and up. Check out the details below...

Details Provided via Press Release:

On Friday, May 9 and May 23 at 7:30 p.m., Theatre Unspeakable will present SuperMan 2050, an epic story with pocket proportions in which seven actors share one tiny platform, just 3-by-7 feet of space, and upon it an original Superman tale unfolds. Set in a fictional 2050 Metropolis with a remarkable resemblance to Chicago, the show's resourceful cast members use only their bodies and voices to create every prop, scene, sound effect and character in a battle between Superman and Lex Luthor for the future of the Midwest's beloved high-speed railnetwork.

On Friday, May 16 and May 30 at 7:30 p.m., Manual Cinema will present Lula del Rey, a mythic reinvention of the classic coming-of-age story about a young girl who lives with her mother in the middle of the desert. After a chance encounter over the radio, Lula becomes obsessed with a soulful country music duo, the Baden Brothers, and runs away from home to find them in the city. Lula del Rey is performed with overhead projectors, shadow puppets, actors in silhouette and live music inspired by Hank Williams, Roy Orbison and Patsy Cline.

All Later Stages performances will be presented at CCT's home base, the Ruth Page Center for the Arts, 1016 N. Dearborn St., Chicago. Tickets are only $15. For tickets and information, call the Chicago Children's Theatre box office, (872) 222-9555 or visit  chicagochildrenstheatre.org.

While offering Chicago big kids and their families a new live entertainment option on Friday nights in May, Chicago Children's Theatre will be simultaneously delighting thousands of smaller Chicago tots ages 2 and up with multiple weekday and weekend performances of Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia's The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Other Eric Carle Favorites. For tickets to this fantastic triple bill of Carle's most beloved stories, call (872) 222-9555 or visit chicagochildrenstheatre.org

Chicago Children's Theatre also encourages families to "like" the company's Facebook page and follow its Twitter feed - @ChiChildTheatre - where special offers, supplemental education activities, behind-the-scenes content, and invitations to value-added events are regularly posted throughout the run of every CCT production.
