Back in 2003, while still working for the Musicland Group's late Sam Goody division, my wife and I had the opportunity to catch a very early sneak-preview of the film, SCHOOL OF ROCK. Even with missing pieces and placeholders where other bits would go, we both loved seeing Jack Black take on the role of Dewey Finn - a rocker impersonating a substitute teacher, and subsequently teaching kids how to throw down in front of a live audience. Now, 11 years later, a live-action television series based on SCHOOL OF ROCK has been ordered straight-to-series, with 13 episodes being produced by Paramount Television for airing on Nickelodeon.

SCHOOL OF ROCK is one of those great movies that always felt quintessentially Nickelodeon in its tone and humor, and we jumped at the opportunity to partner with Paramount Television and bring it to life as a TV series. Once again, kids will be able to laugh and rock!”Russell Hicks, President, Content and Development, Nickelodeon.

For many reasons, I'll be watching developments on this series very closely. SCHOOL OF ROCK will be written by Jim and Steve Armogida (Crash & Bernstein, My Family), who will also serve as executive producers and show runners. The movie’s director Richard Linklater and producer Scott Rudin will executive produce the television series.

Stay tuned...
