Some years back, Michael Bolton found himself drawn to Detroit while researching for his 2013 album "Ain't No Mountain High Enough: A Tribute to Hitsville USA." Beyond the music of Motown, Bolton realized that there was so much more to explore about Detroit’s past, present and future. Now comes his new documentary, American Dream: Detroit, a film that celebrates the golden age of the Motor City - featuring natives such as Francis Ford Coppola, Jerry Bruckheimer, Aretha Franklin, Smokey Robinson and Alice Cooper. It's an exploration of a city in turnaround, pulling back the curtain on the vision of a new Detroit being built by young visionaries and entrepreneurial moguls alike. On May 15th, Fathom Events will bring it to theaters for one night only - see the trailer below!
"The Godfather of Shock Rock," ALICE COOPER is a legend - and one whose career has spanned six decades. In fact, Cooper and Halloween go hand-in-hand, and way back in 1978, the man who allegedly took his name from a Ouija Board made his way to THE MUPPET SHOW, on which he revealed himself as an Agent of The Devil, offering THE MUPPETS "fabulous riches and Worldwide fame" in exchange for their felt-covered souls. While he may not have succeeded in snatching the heart of Kermit, Cooper did manage to break out memorable performances of "Welcome to My Nightmare," "You and Me," and "School's Out," all while backed by Muppets and Monsters alike. ALICE COOPER's 1978 appearance on THE MUPPET SHOW lands at Day 2 on 31 Days of Halloween 2014, a special "Throwback Thursday" edition. Watch the full episode below.
I vaguely remember hearing something about MOTION DEVICE, a Canadian band with a 10-year-old frontgirl awhile back. Sara, the vocalist, was maybe 8 or 9 the last time they crossed my internet path, and now they're back with a pair of covers from ALICE COOPER and OZZY OSBOURNE. Kids that rock this hard are impressive, but hopefully someone other than me will tell them to ditch that terrible Morpheus-font that they're using on their logo. Check out School's Out and Crazy Train below, then give 'em a LIKE on Facebook to show your support for their rock!
