Ten years ago, SCION made it's debut here in the U.S., and I - deeply embedded in the entertainment world at the time - found myself enamored by the Scion XB, aka "The Box" after seeing it on the streets of California, where it arrived early. I ordered one brand-new, completely loaded and set to be delivered in June of 2004. In fact, I'm told it was the first black version to be delivered and sold in the state of Wisconsin (and imported to Illinois), but I've never been able to confirm that. I had it decked out with red LEDs to capture that KNIGHT RIDER vibe I dig so much, along with racing pedals, additional performance features, and the top-of-the-line Pioneer sound system. Upon arrival, I bestowed upon it a red Autobot insignia, displayed proudly on it's rear window... a throwback to the TRANSFORMERS debut in 1984. The car and I were ready for adventure, and many adventures were had. Now, in 2014 - I still have the Autobot in my driveway, but things are different. The bazooka tube is out of the trunk (room for a stroller), and in the back are a pair of car seats. 160,000 miles later, my Scion is still rockin', and it's Daddy and Addie that keep it that way.
We've got quite a few of Hasbro's KRE-O sets here at Rock Father HQ, KRE-O being their spin on the building brick category (technically, "Oxford Bricks" re-branded for the U.S.), and "compatible with major brands," which means that they can be mixed-and-matched with LEGO, Mega Bloks, C3, you name it. I've even reviewed a few KRE-O sets here on the site, and one of the earliest came from the TRANSFORMERS assortment. Now, with TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION obliterating the box office, there's some new sets, and Hasbro sent us a couple to check out. Here's my thoughts...
When we came home a few weeks back to find Optimus Prime peering from within an obviously-Dinobot ravaged crate of TRANSFORMERS goodies sent to Rock Father HQ direct from Hasbro, it was a surprise. Now, as we've been trying out the different assortments represented within the sampling, we're knee-deep in Autobot Vs. Decepticon action... and it's glorious. With TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION opening Friday, today we're featuring the POWER BATTLERS (aka POWER ATTACKERS) and FLIP & CHANGE toys, right here on THE ROCK FATHER as part of #TRANSFORMERSweek!
Last month, I revealed the limited-edition TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION BIG RED cans right here on THE ROCK FATHER. Now, with the release of the latest installment of the Michael Bay-directed franchise hitting theaters this Friday, the folks at BIG RED Soda are asking "How Will YOU Prepare?" There's a guy in the video that waxes a Decepticon symbol into his chest hair... that doesn't seem like a bad idea.
Rock Father HQ has just intercepted an urgent message from Cybertron: Shout! Factory has just-released TRANSFORMERS ANIMATED: THE COMPLETE SERIES, marking the first time that the entire 42-episode collection has been available. The 6-DVD set is an Amazon Exclusive, but with TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION headed for theaters later this month, it's time for a celebratory giveaway! Shout! Factory and THE ROCK FATHER have teamed-up to get one lucky reader hooked up with this new box set for themselves! Now - choose your side: Autobot? Or Decepticon?
When TRANSFORMERS: ARMADA launched in the summer of 2002, I missed it completely. While aware of it's existence, it was a different time in my life, and despite a love of TRANSFORMERS dating back to it's launch here in the United States back in 1984, ARMADA and the rest of what would become known as "The Unicron Trilogy" mostly escaped me on television. I did, however play the 2004 Playstation 2 game that was based on the show. Eventually, I caught a few episodes in repeats, but have now caught up over a decade later with the new Shout! Factory release of TRANSFORMERS: ARMADA - THE COMPLETE SERIES.
