Getting an earlier release than previously-announced, the highly anticipated Netflix original, DreamWorks She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, is now available. The 13 half-hour episodes tells "the epic story of an orphan named Adora, who leaves behind her former life in the evil Horde when she discovers a magic sword that transforms her into the mythical warrior princess She-Ra. Along the way, she finds a new family in the Rebellion as she unites a group of magical princesses in the ultimate fight against evil." I haven't had a chance to dig in and show The Rock Daughters™ just yet, but I've always been a big fan of Hordak. Mattel's Fright Zone Play Set was a favorite for me as a kid, and in a new clip from the series, it seems as if this new-school Hordak as a very Darth Vader-eque vibe. Check it out!
For the Honor of Grayskull! A new generation will soon experience a reimagined take on the She-Ra legend when the savior of Etheria returns in DreamWorks She-Ra and The Princesses of Power! The new animated series brings to life "a story of magic, friendship, loyalty, and an epic battle for peace." Inspired the classic Filmation animated series of the 80s (a spin-off from Mattel's iconic He-Man and the Masters of the Universe), it tells "the story of an orphan named Adora, who leaves behind her former life in the evil Horde when she discovers a magic sword that transforms her into the mythical warrior princess, She-Ra." Today comes our first official teaser trailer from the new series. Check it out below!
For a series than began as a Frankenstein'd story crafted by combining several Japanese series' from Toei Animation, Voltron has certainly come a long way in the past 34 years. Already popular in Japan, Beast King GoLion is what most Americans would come to recognize as Voltron: Defender of the Universe, while the Armored Fleet Dairugger XV became the second iteration of Voltron to hit the 'States, though a vehicular version that's oft-forgotten in favor of the lion-based counterparts. Since the launch of the Netflix Original Series, DreamWorks' Voltron: Legendary Defender in 2016, renewed interest in the character and it's past (fueled largely by the reissued Voltron '84) has led to it becoming a staple of Comic-Con. For this year's Comic-Con International in San Diego, there's a huge amount of Voltron goodness coming into play - you could even say that it's an unusually large amount this year, packed with reveals and SDCC exclusives. It started with Playmates Toys' Voltron: Legendary Defender Hyperphase Voltron that Entertainment Earth will be selling, but now there's so much more...
When it comes to convention season, leaks on exclusive toys and collectibles are hard to contain, and in this case, how can you keep a good team of mighty lions down? Last December, I was among the first to bring you news that DreamWorks Animation was bringing Captain Underpants to television as a Netflix Original Series. Today comes your first look at the full opening for DreamWorks' The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants coming to Netflix on July 13. Oh yes, George and Harold are back!
It was two years ago already that I sat down with the team behind the DreamWorks Animation Netflix Original Series Voltron: Legendary Defender. Now, the sixth season arrives on June 15, and it's poised to answer some questions I had back then - particularly in dealing with Lotor. The Paladins are primed and ready to face their biggest challenge yet with seven all-new episodes. Check out the trailer below!
