While the world awaits news on what the next installment of the long-running James Bond franchise will be, the first-ever official James Bond experience to take place in New York City is taking shape. SPYSCAPE, the experiential spy museum in NYC has partnered with EON Productions and Metro Goldwyn Mayer Studios (MGM) to collaborate on a new 007 exhibition at the SPYSCAPE headquarters in Manhattan. Set to open in early 2019, registration for early access to tickets has already opened.
There are few car brands that I love as much as I do Aston Martin. While they're currently out of my price range, there was a strange time about a decade ago when it looked like I was very close to owning one (100% true), and perhaps one day that might still happen, but for now I'll have to admire them from afar, such as the recent DB10 appearance in SPECTRE, the latest James Bond adventure. Oddly enough, I still have not seen SPECTRE, but it's available now on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD, and today comes news of a little VR fun with Google Cardboard - a feature where you can go 360° inside of Q's Workshop° inside of Q's Workshop, and check out some of Mr. Bond's rides...
Sam Smith must be working for Ernst Stavro Blofeld. There's no other way to explain him being named the voice behind the new JAMES BOND Theme, aside from him truly being an agent of evil. And don't get me wrong - I love evil, but I don't like whiny evil. This is just my way of rationalizing that one of my most disliked musical artists will now sing the opening words of SPECTRE, the latest installment of one of my favorite film series'. While I'm sure the multiple GRAMMY-winning Mr. Smith is a fine lad, his music is an unexplainable annoyance for me, one I can only hope is made better by some miracle on September 25th when "Writing's On The Wall" is released for download. Perhaps the song will be excellent and all will be well, but for this listener, Smith's global hit, IN THE LONELY HOUR was unlistenable, whiny garbage.
Like my headline says, the first teaser for the latest 007 adventure is classic JAMES BOND. Daniel Craig's latest outing as Bond is SPECTRE, and the first-look at the new film has arrived courtesy of the folks at MGM. Watch it below, then share your thoughts on it. SPECTRE will be released theatrically on November 6, 2015.
I'm a huge fan of Kia's excellent new 2016 Sorento, which I reviewed here on THE ROCK FATHER a few weeks back. I'm also a huge fan or Pierce Brosnan - perhaps my favorite Bond - and spent much of the mid-90s pretending to be him while playing GOLDENEYE on N64. What's happened here is that Kia Motors America recently tapped Brosnan for their annual Super Bowl commercial, and with the "Big Game" taking place this weekend, an extended version of the spot has arrived. With the 2016 Kia Sorento being touted as "The Perfect Getaway Vehicle," it's only right that Brosnan looked back to his "action-adventure" days as James Bond when he got pitched the gig, right?
We know a thing or two about James Bond. Sure, my name sounds a bit like the famous spy of the Ian Fleming novels and twenty-plus films, but that's not it. I've just watched the movies a bit (though I still need to see SKYFALL), and I recently introduced my little ones to the vehicular side of Bond through a visit to the Volo Auto Museum. Addie took a liking to the Aston Martin Vanquish that was featured in DIE ANOTHER DAY, and not long ago, the folks from Toy State sent us one of their Aston Martin DBS QUANTUM OF SOLACE Editions to test drive here in The Rock Father's State-of-the-Art Toy Testing Facility (our house, yard, sidewalk). Truth be told, I'm sort of an Aston Martin fan in general, so this was a fun ride to check out.
