After decades of calling William Patrick Corgan "Billy" Corgan, it feels weird to type the man's full name. At the same time, I get it - much in the same way that I'm "James" and get weirded out when people call me "Jimmy" or "Jim," especially people I don't really know. Naming conventions aside, today we've got something unexpected from Corgan in the form of an acoustic performance of Miley Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball" from the Cover Room on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon. As far as I know, this is only the second Cover Room performance, with Kesha dropping by for "House of the Rising Sun" over the summer - a performance that's pretty much been erased from the internet, with the video being pulled from YouTube. Check out "Wrecking Ball" below...

Just last week, I'd been listening to The Lonely Island here at Rock Father HQ, and it hit me that their breakthrough viral hit, "Lazy Sunday," was already 12 years old. As I tend to do on occasion, I followed The Lonely Island down the rabbit hole and re-watched their classic SNL Digital Shorts, followed by binging on the three full-length albums that preceded last year's soundtrack to Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping. Today, for no apparent reason (aside from it being awesome), The Lonely Island's YouTube Channel sprang to life for the first time in five months, posting a live performance of "Lazy Sunday" from Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, one that originally aired on March 8, 2010. Check it out below!

Just a short while ago on THE TONIGHT SHOW, Jimmy Fallon & The Roots were joined by Idina Menzel to perform the Academy Award-winning song "Let It Go" from Disney's FROZEN... on classroom instruments. The complete song, done in a manner far more loose and entertaining than the Oscars version (and without John Travolta being an idiot), can be heard below...

KINGS OF LEON will release their new album, MECHANICAL BULL, on September 24 via RCA Records. My wife will be excited. I will not care... but I will share KINGS OF LEON news here on The Rock Father because it will draw some new folks to the site (Oh, Hi there! Thanks for stopping by.). To make things 100% Official, JIMMY FALLON recorded a special album announcement using an overly-excited voice that managed to hurt him. Seriously, check it out:

After being less-than-impressed with the "sneak preview" of the new NBC comedy, GUYS WITH KIDS earlier this month, I was reluctant to give the show another shot.  Somehow or another, my DVR decided to record the second episode of the show as it made it's way into NBC's new Wednesday Night lineup for it's "official" premiere this week, so I decided to check it out. Sadly, the second serving was worse than the first.

Last night, NBC got their Fall Season started a little early with sneak-peeks at the pilot episodes of two new comedies, THE NEW NORMAL (not about being a Dad, but using an oft-used term for "Stay at home Dads" as it's title) and the Dad-centric, GUYS WITH KIDS. I'm not a big sitcom guy, and while I skipped 'Normal, I had GUYS WITH KIDS set to record on the DVR for later viewing, lured by it's subject matter and Jimmy Fallon's involvement in the series. After viewing it this afternoon, I can confidently say that GUYS WITH KIDS will be a big hit... but not with guys with kids.
