During the 90th Academy Awards, ABC aired a 30-second spot promising the full teaser for MARY POPPINS RETURNS "tomorrow." Since Disney often does the trailer premieres during Good Morning America, that seemed a likely spot for the clip to debut, but it actually arrived online tonight! From the official Walt Disney Studios YouTube Channel comes your first real look at what should be one of the holiday season's biggest hits - a film I'm very much looking forward to. Check out the teaser for Mary Poppins Returns...
A few weeks ago, my wife and I went to see Hamilton: An American Musical. It lives up to the hype, it's fantastic, and I'm a huge fan. Previously, I was more into the work of Lin-Manuel Miranda thanks to Moana and his contribution to Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Now, with Mary Poppins Returns and a host of other projects on the horizon, it's guaranteed that we'll have much entertainment from the multi-hyphenate (who I'm now calling a "fellow Rock Father" thanks to his rendition of the PAW Patrol theme) for years to come, so what's next? Collectibles, of course! While I've long-been expecting Hamilton Funko POP! Vinyls to get a proper release (people keep making custom versions), there is a Lin-Manuel Miranda figure on the way from my friends at Entertainment Earth. In partnership with TeeRico, the Lin-Manuel and Tobi Pin Mates Wooden Collectibles will be available this summer as part of the Pin Mates Silver Series. Available for pre-order right now, a portion of proceeds from each retro-styled figure set will go to charity.
Even though Disney XD's DuckTales hasn't even made it's season one debut, the series already has a season two pick-up, and now it's getting bigger. Multi-hyphenate entertainment badass Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton, Moana, Mary Poppins Returns) has joined the series as Gizmoduck, "a Duckburg hero whose true identity is Fenton Crackshell-Cabrera, a brilliant young intern working for Scrooge McDuck's personal mad scientist, Gyro Gearloose."
Not long into the first act of Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Moana, there’s a scene where the young Polynesian princess (voiced by Auli'i Cravalho) flat-out disobeys her father. As the leader of the island of Motunui, Chief Tui Waialiki (Temuera Morrison) maintains a firm, yet humble demeanor - looking after the care of his people, though nothing is more important to him than the well-being of his daughter.
Nothing at all against Emily Blunt (she's lovely and married to Jim Halpert John Krasinski), but I thought I had Mary Poppins cast perfectly back in December of 2015. My choice: Star Wars' Daisy Ridley. Alas, my choice was overruled by the powers that be, and Mary Poppins Returns has come to life under the direction of Rob Marshall with Blunt in the title role, alongside Lin-Manuel Miranda, Ben Whishaw, Emily Mortimer, Julie Walters, Colin Firth and Meryl Streep. Today we've got the first photo of Ms. Blunt as Ms. Poppins. Take a look!
We're nearing the Thanksgiving week release of one of our girls' most-anticipated films of the year, Walt Disney Animation Studios' Moana. A tale of a young girl on a great adventure with a mighty demigod, the film features the voice talents of Auli‘i Cravalho, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Jemaine Clement (FLIGHT OF THE CONCHORDS), Rachel House, Temuera Morrison (The STAR WARS Prequels' Jango Fett), Nicole Scherzinger (Pussycat Dolls), Alan Tudyk (ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY), and was directed by Ron Clements and John Musker - the duo behind THE LITTLE MERMAID and ALADDIN. Today we've got a new featurette called “The Way to Moana,” featuring commentary from filmmakers, voice talent, songwriters, and key advisors from the Pacific Islands - delving into the research and collaboration that went into the film, helping to ensure the story celebrates the Pacific Island cultures that so deeply inspired it. Check out that and all related video from the film in the player below!
