In a not-so-distant land called Schaumburg, nestled just minutes west of Chicago proper, there lies a grand castle - an 11th century relic that actually first appeared one foggy night in 1991. For nearly a quarter-century, visitors to this legendary kingdom have taken delight in a spectacle of sportsmanship that until this month, our family had not yet experienced - despite passing beneath the shadow of the castle tower on more than a few occasions. Last year, my wife and I were invited to attend the opening night performance of THE NUTCRACKER by THE JOFFREY BALLET in Chicago. If I were to describe the show in one word, "magnificent" would be it, and for those wishing to let their children have a chance to be a part of this Chicago tradition, your chance has arrived. The folks at The Joffrey Ballet just sent over details on open auditions for this year's production...

This is sort of interesting that this news landed here at Rock Father HQ when it did - a time when my oldest (not quite five) is in Theatre Camp for a "Broadway Beginners" production of ANNIE that wraps-up later this week. Interesting, because this is "Broadway on Screen," and starting June 23, Screenvision and Lincoln Center are bringing THE NANCE starring Nathan Lane to 300 screens Nationwide. Check out a preview...
