Preview: SESAME STREET - THE COOKIE THIEF

PBS KIDS VIPIf you don't already have those DVR's set, get ready - today is the day that THE COOKIE THIEF premieres on PBS KIDS, bringing the first-ever one-hour Cookie Monster special to the masses! This Sesame Street special is "a classic chewdunnit" that guest stars SNL-alum Rachel Dratch as a museum security guard that's looking to finger someone for the theft of a priceless piece of cookie art - Leonardo da Crunchy's The Muncha Lisa! But why would Cookie Monster take such an iconic piece of art? Well, you'll just have to gather the kids to find out...

PBS KIDS VIPIt's going to be a pretty sweet day in the neighborhood when an all-new Valentine's Day episode of DANIEL TIGER'S NEIGHBORHOOD debuts on PBS KIDS this Monday, February 9th (check local listings for times). "It's Love Day" and "Daniel's Love Day Surprise" are the two adventures in the new episode, both of which will help reinforce Fred Rogers' "enduring messages of love and acceptance." Check out a preview below, right here on THE ROCK FATHER...

PBS KIDS VIP (Very Involved Parent)This Fall, there's a new cat on the prowl over at PBS KIDS. NATURE CAT is the all-new original animated series from co-creators and brothers David Rudman (Cookie Monster on SESAME STREET, The Muppets) and Adam Rudman (Tom & Jerry, SESAME STREET, CYBERCHASE) that aims to inspire kids ages 3-8 to "get outdoors and develop connections with the natural world."

The series was announced yesterday at the TCA Press Tour, with a multi-platform rollout planned. Full details below...

PBS KIDS VIP (Very Involved Parent)It was last May that I first made mention of a Cookie Monster Special that the folks at Sesame Street were cooking up. It was then that I came face-to-face with one of my childhood idols for the very first time, getting to sing a couple verses of "C is For Cookie" with the lovable blue Monster himself.  Today comes word that SESAME STREET: THE COOKIE THIEF will debut on PBS KIDS on February 16, placing Cookie Monster in the wrong place at the wrong time...

PBS KIDS VIP I've long-held that DANIEL TIGER'S NEIGHBORHOOD is one of the top five current programs aimed at preschoolers, and this month PBS Distribution has issued an all-new, entry level collection of episodes on DVD. Airing daily on PBS KIDS, this series from The Fred Rogers Company carries on the legacy of MISTER ROGERS' NEIGHBORHOOD through the adventures of four-year-old Daniel Tiger as he learns and grows with the help of his family and friends, presenting viewers with easy-to-follow lessons that kids can relate to. WELCOME TO THE NEIGHBORHOOD is a bargain-priced DVD (list price is just $6.99) that serves up 3 episodes (one of which is the special double-episode, "Neighbor Day") and comes with a 12-piece puzzle.

PBS KIDS VIP (Very Involved Parent)It was at last year's PBS Annual Meeting in San Francisco when I'd first caught rumblings that MACKLEMORE was getting lined-up for a cameo on SESAME STREET. Last Fall, the soon-to-be fellow "Rock Father" did make his way to SESAME STREET to film his bit, and this week the episode finally aired. In case you missed it when it appeared on PBS KIDS a few days back, check out Macklemore throwing down with OSCAR The Grouch and some other garbage-minded greenies in this parody of the Macklemore and Ryan Lewis hit, "Thrift Shop."
