THE ROCK FATHER is a 2014 PBS KIDS VIP (Very Involved Parent)Earlier today, my friends as PBS KIDS launched a revolutionary, first-of-it's-kind App that gives parents a "super power" - the power to see what their kids are watching, learning and playing on pbskids.org, and to help parents guide and maximize their kids' PBS KIDS screen time. Get ready for imitators, because this is pretty cool...

THE ROCK FATHER is a 2014 PBS KIDS VIP (Very Involved Parent)PEG + CAT has been a fixture at Rock Father HQ even before it was released, my first experience with the math-based PBS KIDS series coming last May, when I met with creators Jennifer Oxley and Billy Aronson at the PBS Annual Meeting. Since that time, families have come to love PEG + CAT, and it was only a matter of time until this animated duo were given the proper musical treatment. PBS KIDS presents Peg and Cat's Really Big Album has just hit Amazon and iTunes (with a very BEATLES, Sgt. Pepper's-inspired cover), joining recent releases from DANIEL TIGER'S NEIGHBORHOOD in the PBS KIDS music library, and setting the stage for further releases in the months ahead.

PBS KIDS VIPDANIEL TIGER's NEIGHBORHOOD brings fun lessons to families every day on PBS KIDS, and with Earth Day fast-approaching (Tuesday, April 22), Daniel Tiger and The Fred Rogers Company have come up with a list of five ways your family can "Go Green" (even if it's just a little bit) each and every day. It's important to teach kids to care for our planet, and here's some great conversation starters...

PBS KIDS VIPSpring is finally here, and as the thunder rolls (remind you of Garth Brooks?) here at Rock Father HQ this morning, I just keep thinking of the old saying, "April showers bring May flowers." While we eagerly await the arrival of sunny days and some much-needed time in our garden, there's a couple of new DVDs that have been helping get the Spring vibe going with my little ones. CAILLOU'S GARDEN ADVENTURES (review here) and WILD KRATTS: BUGGING OUT, each bring nearly an hour of educational fun to families, with new collections of the PBS KIDS hit series'. Better yet, PBS Distribution and THE ROCK FATHER are getting five (5) lucky readers hooked up with a prize pack that includes both of these new collections!

PBS KIDS VIPHere's a Rock Father fact that most people don't know: In 1987, while in Fifth Grade, I became an award-winning author... a "Young Author," to be exact. After penning a short story called THE LITTLE CHAMP (which I'd later come to find out was a very technically-inaccurate portrayal of a race horse), I got to represent my school at the Illinois Reading Council's Annual Young Authors' Conference at Illinois State University. Fast-forward about 27 years, and I'm a parent, and through my relationship with PBS KIDS, am helping to spread the word about getting other kids writing for the annual PBS KIDS Writers Contest. TONIGHT (March 18, 2014), I will be co-hosting the #PBSKIDSWrite Twitter Party, and I'd love it if you could join!
