One of the biggest surprises this summer was that ahead of THE EMOJI MOVIE was an all-new HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA short. I had no idea that PUPPY was set in Dracula's world, and that's a good thing as the kids were really surprised when we screened it at the birthday party for our oldest "Rock Daughter." Now, with an animated series airing on Disney Channel and a new feature film headed for theaters next summer, news has come into Rock Father HQ that Sony Pictures Consumer Products has partnered with Jazwards to develop a Hotel Transylvania toy-line, while Simon & Schuster Children's Group, Papercutz Comics and Bendon Publishing, will create a range of books inspired by the film franchise and new television series. The goodies will begin hitting stores leading up to the release of Sony Pictures Animation's HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA 3, in which Mavis surprises Dracula with a family voyage on a luxury Monster Cruise Ship -- the first time the characters will venture outside of the hotel.

Sony Pictures' Spider-Man: Homecoming looks great - the result of a fantastic decision to share the title character between Marvel/Disney and Sony, thus placing him firmly within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. That spirit of sharing also spun the other way, with Tony Stark/Iron Man playing a central role in the new film, and today comes the final domestic trailer along with what's likely the final international trailer. While both of those are fantastic, the pair of posters released look like fan art. You can see all of them below, and check out the film in theaters on July 7.

Sony Pictures' THE EMOJI MOVIE has lost its initial tagline (it was announced as The Emoji Movie: Express Yourself), and that's just fine since it's probably best to keep things simple. Today the full trailer for the new film has arrived, and it's our first real look at what to expect when THE EMOJI MOVIE hits theaters on July 28. So what does a feature film based on the icons that live within your phone look like? Sorta like a kid-friendly Sausage Party. Check it out...

Sony Pictures' Smurfs: The Lost Village hits theaters this weekend, and just in-time for the latest cinematic release (a CGI reboot of sorts), Sony Pictures Television Games has release Smurfs Bubble Story. Available now for iOS and Android, the new mobile game was developed by Tic Toc Games in Burbank, and I've had a chance to go hands-on with it over the past week or so here at Rock Father HQ. A freemium title (free-to-play with in-app purchases), I made it up to around  level 15 or so (I'm currently on level 23) before it asked me to buy credits. Adding a story and "collectible" digital Smurfs to the mix, it's exactly the type of smooth, quick-play experience that you'd want from a bubble popper. Check out the launch trailer below...

Does the suit make the man? That's the question pondered in the latest trailer for Spider-Man: Homecoming - the first feature-length collaboration between Sony and Disney that finds Spidey making his way into the Marvel Cinematic Universe after making his debut in Captain America: Civil War last year. Here we find Peter Parker (Tom Holland) having some issues with authority, particularly that of Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) and The Avengers. Take a look...

MARVEL Studios and Sony Pictures will release Spider-Man: Homecoming on July 7, and ahead of the movie comes the toys. This week, Hasbro revealed a sneak-preview of what they'll be rolling out this spring, serving up a refreshed line of action figures, vehicles and playsets in support of the film. From this initial preview, the Spidey stuff looks a lot more appealing than the last few lines, with the 6" action figures sporting a movie look, the "Spidey Racer" vehicle including a NERF dart feature (akin to recent Star Wars vehicles), and some pretty cool playsets.
