PBS KIDS VIP (Very Involved Parent)On Monday, August 18, DANIEL TIGER'S NEIGHBORHOOD will welcome a very special new resident - Daniel Tiger's new baby sister, Margaret! Launching with a one-hour "Meet the New Baby" special, more new episodes will roll out on the 19 & 20 as Daniel and his family adjust to the new addition. As part of my gig as a PBS KIDS VIP (Very Involved Parent), my girls and I checked out at advance screening of "The Tiger Family Grows/Daniel Learns About Being a Big Brother" and "The Baby is Here," and had a little baby shower right here at Rock Father HQ to celebrate. As I've said in the past (even prior to working with PBS), DANIEL TIGER is one of the best shows out there, filled with great music and an easy-going teaching style. Check out a preview below, along with some tips for parents to help their preschoolers welcome a new sibling into their home...

PBS KIDS VIP (Very Involved Parent)I really can't express enough just how much I love DANIEL TIGER'S NEIGHBORHOOD. When I first got word that the legacy of MISTER ROGERS NEIGHBORHOOD would continue through this production from The Fred Rogers Company, I was excited, but since it's premiere on PBS KIDS in 2012, this show has really become such a fixture here, and it just feels special. While I was attending the PBS Annual Meeting in San Francisco earlier this month, attendees were excited to learn that not only has a new grant helped to fund a second season of DANIEL TIGER'S NEIGHBORHOOD, but Daniel is about to become a big brother...

PBS KIDS VIPThe 2014 Rock Father Tour hits the road and takes to the sky again this week, as I head back to the West Coast on another adventure. One of the best parts of my job is a side-gig that I've had with PBS as a PBS KIDS VIP (Very Involved Parent). Having written about PBS programming for quite awhile before we made any kind of formal connection, it's been a real honor to work the the folks from PBS KIDS over the past two years, helping to spread the word about quality, educational programming. Last year was the first year that I'd been invited to attend the PBS Annual Meeting (then in Miami), and this year I've been invited back, as we "get the band back together" and hit the streets of San Francisco to get the rundown and game plan for the next year of PBS programming and events.

THE ROCK FATHER is a 2014 PBS KIDS VIP (Very Involved Parent)PEG + CAT has been a fixture at Rock Father HQ even before it was released, my first experience with the math-based PBS KIDS series coming last May, when I met with creators Jennifer Oxley and Billy Aronson at the PBS Annual Meeting. Since that time, families have come to love PEG + CAT, and it was only a matter of time until this animated duo were given the proper musical treatment. PBS KIDS presents Peg and Cat's Really Big Album has just hit Amazon and iTunes (with a very BEATLES, Sgt. Pepper's-inspired cover), joining recent releases from DANIEL TIGER'S NEIGHBORHOOD in the PBS KIDS music library, and setting the stage for further releases in the months ahead.

PBS KIDS VIPDANIEL TIGER's NEIGHBORHOOD brings fun lessons to families every day on PBS KIDS, and with Earth Day fast-approaching (Tuesday, April 22), Daniel Tiger and The Fred Rogers Company have come up with a list of five ways your family can "Go Green" (even if it's just a little bit) each and every day. It's important to teach kids to care for our planet, and here's some great conversation starters...
