The Walt Disney Company is absolutely on a roll. On the eve of 2015's forthcoming 20th anniversary of Pixar Animation Studios' groundbreaking TOY STORY, production on Disney•Pixar’s TOY STORY 4 has been announced. Original TOY STORY director John Lasseter (now head of Disney's Animation operations) will be back at the helm (he also did the first sequel) of the film, "which opens a new chapter in the lives of Woody, Buzz Lightyear and the TOY STORY gang," and is being prepped for release on June 16, 2017.
Last year, Disney•Pixar’s TOY STORY OF TERROR! found Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Jessie and a whole bunch of familiar friends from the TOY STORY movies in a new and precarious situation when it made it's debut on ABC. This year, TOY STORY OF TERROR! slides into 31 Days of Halloween here on THE ROCK FATHER, thanks to a fantastic home release on Blu-Ray + Digital HD Combo Pack (and standalone DVD), making this modern Halloween tradition available year-round.
Today, Walt Disney Records issued what is quite possibly one of the strangest, yet appropriately contemporary releases in their catalog. DCONSTRUCTED (available on Amazon & iTunes) finds Mickey Mouse and Friends going full-on EDM, with remixes of classic and modern Disney fare by artists such as AVICII, ARMIN VAN BUUREN, BT and more. Tonight, the video for THE MUPPET SHOW THEME as reimagined by SHY KIDX hit my inbox, and it is certainly something to behold. Not necessarily for the kids, it's a rave-styled trip. In fact, it reminds me of a few weekends back in 1994-1995-ish, when I visited some underground raves in the Quad Cities. I had a funky hat.
No, TOY STORY 4 is not happening... yet, and any word otherwise is simply a rumor. But, Buzz, Woody, and the rest of the gang are back in a new iOS game called TOY STORY: SMASH IT!, that was just released this week. The folks at Disney Publishing Worldwide got in touch with The Rock Father with details on the new game, along with some crazy "March Madness" specials on a trio of classic Apps. Check 'em out below!
