Dumbo is a bit of a divisive figure in our house. The 1941 animated film falls into that "sad movie" category that my wife generally tends to avoid, so I'm the one that's introduced it to The Rock Daughters™ and got pretty excited when I first heard that the Batman Returns team of Michael Keaton (Batman), Danny DeVito (The Penguin) and filmmaker Tim Burton had come together to reimagine the tale for the big-screen. This coming March, Walt Disney Studios brings DUMBO into theaters, and now comes a new trailer and poster for the live-action adventure that picks-up where the animated version ended. Check it out...

During the 90th Academy Awards, ABC aired a 30-second spot promising the full teaser for MARY POPPINS RETURNS "tomorrow." Since Disney often does the trailer premieres during Good Morning America, that seemed a likely spot for the clip to debut, but it actually arrived online tonight! From the official Walt Disney Studios YouTube Channel comes your first real look at what should be one of the holiday season's biggest hits - a film I'm very much looking forward to. Check out the teaser for Mary Poppins Returns...

When I reviewed the DVD release of Disney's 1977 film, PETE's DRAGON for Starlog back in 2009 (reposted here), I noted that while the tale was timeless, the presentation had become very dated. Little did I know seven years ago that The Walt Disney Company would also deem it ripe for an update, and here we are in 2016 with the August release of David Lowery's re-telling of this longtime favorite. When the teaser trailer first arrived during the Disneyland 60 celebration on ABC the other night, even my wife said that "PETE's DRAGON is a big deal." Take a peek...

When I think of Jon Favreau, I tend to think of his acting turns in films like Hart Bochner's PCU and Doug Liman's SWINGERS, followed by his directorial/acting work on smaller films like MADE (my wife and I had to seek out a theater for that one on opening weekend) or last year's excellent CHEF. I always tend to forget that it was Favreau that helmed ELF and the first two IRON MAN movies, and then it all makes sense that Disney put him behind the lens for their live-action reimagining of THE JUNGLE BOOK. As a fan of the original animated feature (reviewed here), I didn't really have a ton of interest in seeing it get a flesh-and-blood (and CGI) re-do, but after seeing the first teaser trailer, I'm on-board. Check this out...

On January 29, 2016, Walt Disney Pictures presents THE FINEST HOURS, an epic film based on the true story of the sinking of the SS Pendleton in 1952 - a storm-based disaster that led to the greatest small boat rescue in Coast Guard history. MARVEL's GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY is right at the top of my "must-see" list for this year, the most "out-there" installment of the MARVEL Cinematic Universe thus far, and a film I hope that a lot of people see. This week, a batch of character posters has been released, and I've got all of those, along with ALL of the currently-released promotional videos from the film, each embedded below for your enjoyment. Check 'em out...
