Updated 3/20/12 - An attorney and a member of Jason Mraz' management team contacted me about this album tonight, wrongfully accusing me of distributing unauthorized music. This is a news item - just as there are many other news items on this site. Making an assumption without research is foolish. The Rock Father™ is a music-centric ''Daddy Blog & Website,'' and there is nothing on this website that should in any way indicate that I am a distributor of music. I receive press releases and decide which albums to cover - just as I've done at other websites, papers, and magazines in the past. You can check out the Music for Kids or the Music for Grown-ups sections for other similarly-formatted pieces of music news. If people either can't read, nor properly comprehend what they're reading, that's not my problem. The original news item continues unedited below this text. - James
Updated Again: Since ABC News Radio has covered the album as well, perhaps these members of Jason Mraz' ''team'' will attack them as well? I somehow doubt it. - James
The good folks at Twinkle Twinkle Little Rock Star have released the 63rd installment of their popular Lullaby series, with LULLABY VERSIONS OF JASON MRAZ hitting iTunes and other digital retailers today. The 13-track collection of ''lush instrumental versions'' of Mr. A to Z's most popular songs is priced at only $7.99, and includes the recent hit ''I Won't Give Up'' - the original version of which appears on Mraz' forthcoming new album, LOVE IS A FOUR LETTER WORD (due out April 17 via Atlantic). The Rock Father™ has the full tracklisting for Lullaby Versions of Jason Mraz below, along with a preview stream of ''I'm Yours.''
I have a interesting personal anecdote involving THE CULT... Some years ago, in the not-so-distant past, I'd written a screenplay that a ''producer'' wanted CULT frontman Ian Astbury to be a part of. Using a friend of mine who is a friend (and past collaborator) of Astbury as the channel, said ''producer'' (a term to be used in an exceptionally loose manner) pushed the issue (being a big fan of THE CULT), and Astbury apparently read the script - and to my understanding, hated it.
With record-setting temperatures here in Northern Illinois this week, the little one and I have been spending a lot of time outside getting inspired for the Spring and Summer Gardening seasons. In fact, having cleared 80-degrees already, this is the warmest March on record, and a lot of our Garden Friends that shouldn't be here yet have already arrived. Joining them for 2012 are some new friends, the GROWUMS.
GROWUMS are a collection of six themed gardening kits that encourage kids to ''put a little character in your garden.'' Intrigued by the kits and their vast array of characters, educational tools, and transmedia presence, I reached out to the Growums team to learn a little bit more.
Last year, LEGO duplo released a series of 11 songs under the LEGO DUPLO JAMS banner. Inspired by British Pop and performed by a ''preschool Dad,'' the tracks are designed to be a companion for playtime - especially when paired with the popular LEGO duplo blocks. A study conducted between May-June 2011 was released alongside the 'JAMS and presented some data that's not surprising - 55% of children are happier when music is coupled with play; 50% are more excited when they hear music; and 43% of children act sillier when music is coupled with play.
THE AQUABATS! SUPER SHOW! is the first Saturday Morning television offering to get me excited since the mid-1980's, and with it's third episode premiering this Saturday on The Hub (guest-starring NAPOLEON DYNAMITE's Jon Heder), excitement for the rash guard-wearing super-rockers is at an all-time high. Frontman MC Bat Commander recently took to The Social Network Facebook to answer some fan questions, one of which involved rock icon and frequent punchline, Glenn Danzig.
