Nostalgia is a serious thing right now, and when it's done right, the way to move forward into the future is by providing a link to the past. From 20th Century Fox, the PREDATOR franchise is being rebooted, and in this first trailer audiences are getting a look at a very different movie than the ones that have preceded it. THE PREDATOR finds a suburban boy unknowingly luring the intergalactic hunters back to earth in a scene that takes me right back to a simpler time - a realm of imagination and wonder much like that seen in films like the Goonies or Monster Squad. The latter was a 1987 collaboration between Shane Black and Fred Dekker, and for THE PREDATOR they're working together again, co-writing the screenplay and with Black (Lethal Weapon) at the helm. Take a look...
With Avengers: Infinity War now thrilling audiences on the big screen, it's time for another adventure to come home...
Marvel Studios' BLACK PANTHER is a global phenomenon. Now the #3 movie of all-time, the story of T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman), a young African prince who takes on the mantle of King and Super Hero, has thrilled and inspired generations of moviegoers. Coming to 4K Ultra HD™, Blu-ray™, DVD and On-Demand on May 15, 2018, BLACK PANTHER is available to own NOW on Digital HD and thanks to my friends at Disney Movies, The Rock Father is giving you a chance to win it!
My wife asked me not to be a jerk about this, but there is no way I can let this one slide by. There are some properties out there where you have to just shake your head and wonder how their respective owners can keep running them into the ground, and Scooby-Doo is one of those. What makes it especially painful is that Warner Bros. is allowing a cherished franchise that's delighted millions of families for the past 50 years (2019 will mark the anniversary) to be marred by a string of sub-par spin-offs and re-imaginings. The 2002 live-action Scooby-Doo and its 2004 sequel, Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed were both written by a pre-Guardians of the Galaxy James Gunn and both were pretty entertaining and well-received. Then there was the excellent Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated that ran from 2010-2013 - a series that served as a perfect entry to Scooby-Doo for my own daughters. And then the turn happened. A pair of not-great live-action "prequel" TV movies paired with the bizarre Family Guy-style animation of Be Cool, Scooby-Doo! would be followed by the announcement of a live-action Daphne & Velma movie. With that film hitting Blu-ray and DVD on May 22, 2018, the cast is starting to do press this week, and I feel for all parties involved when the interviews start rolling. The trailer that was released last month looks absolutely terrible, and the Blu-ray art is a horrible use of Photoshop in which the faces of the actresses look awkwardly placed atop equally awkward poses. See for yourself...

After two seasons on ABC, Quantico found itself in a position where reinvention was the perfect way to both move the series forward and gain new audiences in the process. Despite being well-received by both viewers and critics, many (like myself) had yet to experience the show, and as time went on, the chance for that to happen became less and less likely. During my recent visit to Los Angeles, I had the opportunity to meet with new showrunner Michael Seitzman (Code Black) and a new addition to the cast - Academy Award Winner Marlee Matlin - for a discussion about taking the series in a new direction (and a three year time jump) for season three.
The road to get here was an unusual one - perhaps as bumpy as a trip through an asteroid field while chased by Imperial TIE Fighters - but May 25th will mark the release of Lucasfilm's Solo: A Star Wars Story, and I'm excited. I think I'm actually more pumped for this one than I was for Rogue One, and I loved that film. What's at play here is the vibe, and the vibe is fun. A large bringer of fun, Lando Calrissian. With that in mind, actor Donald Glover is giving you as look inside the Millennium Falcon - Lando's Falcon - from an era before it became known as a "piece of junk." Seeing this, I really wish it was possible to get a Corellian Freighter to park in the driveway. You could comfortably live in this thing. Take a look...
Back in 2015, Marvel Studios unleashed what was essentially their first true "family" film, and after the darkness brought forth by Avengers: Infinity War, a return to the light-hearted world of Ant-Man (and a trip to the Quantum Realm) might be just what the world needs. As Rob Base and DJ E-Z Rock throw down in a remix, "It Takes Two," and this time around it's ANT-MAN AND THE WASP getting ready to make a big mark on the Marvel Cinematic Universe... by going small (and growing big). Check out the new trailer and poster below!
While Marvel Studios' Avengers: Infinity War is exploding onto screens as the biggest movie of all time, there's still plenty of fodder for the internet trolls out there. As the cast makes the rounds in promotion of the film, Jimmy Kimmel (from Marvel corporate sibling ABC) has welcomed many of them, and last night the Avengers faced-off not against Thanos, but against "Mean Tweets." Check out Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Mackie, Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Winston Duke, Elizabeth Olsen, Don Cheadle, Dave Bautista, Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Holland, Samuel L. Jackson, Paul Rudd, Karen Gillan, Paul Bettany, Chadwick Boseman, Chris Pratt & Chris Evans reading some gems in the video below!
As of this morning, the world is waking up to discover the magnitude of Marvel Studios' Avengers: Infinity War. With the biggest opening weekend box office of all time ($258.2M domestic, $640.9M globally), the 19th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) officially becomes the biggest superhero opening of all time - simultaneously grabbing the trophy for the biggest individual Saturday and Sunday box office off all time in North America. Capping off the first 10 years of Marvel Studios, the films will have pulled in more than $15B globally by the time Infinity War completes its run and the next five films are already on the way. The success of the studio is a team effort, and one of the people responsible has been there since the beginning - Victoria Alonso, EVP of Physical Production, and Executive Producer of Avengers: Infinity War. Together with Kevin Feige (President) and Louis D'Esposito (Co-President), she's helped shape the MCU into something that fans love and other studios often seek to emulate - overseeing every aspect of production from start to finish. Last week, mere hours after a late night celebrating the World Premiere of Infinity War, I was in the room at Marvel Studios in Burbank for one of the most unusual and enlightening meetings that I've ever been a part of. It was a conversation that for some mirrored the emotional rollercoaster (laughs! tears!) of the film itself - the rules tossed aside not for a rehash of what's been said elsewhere, but for a discussion about parenting, motherhood, and making the world a better place for our kids.
Lucasfilm's Solo: A Star Wars Story hits theaters on May 25, and with the World Premiere just a few weeks away, today we've got a new featurette with some new footage and insight. In this new clip, director Ron Howard is joined by Alden Ehrenreich (Han Solo), Donald Glover (Lando Calrissian) and Emilia Clarke (Qi'Ra) along with screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan for a fresh look at the exciting adventures soon to come. Check it out below!
It's about one o'clock in the afternoon here at my home in northern Illinois. The spring weather is late-breaking, but with it being a sunny and clear 63° outside, I've got the kitchen windows open as I sip my early afternoon coffee... from a mug shaped like Thanos' Infinity Gauntlet. My life continues to take me to interesting places, and they're often very quick trips that are packed with activities and excitement, usually ending with a red eye flight back to Chicago and back to reality. On Monday night, I walked the Purple Carpet at the World Premiere of Marvel Studios' Avengers: Infinity War... sat in the front row of the Dolby Theatre in a seat once occupied by Leonardo DiCaprio... and sipped a martini as an invited guest at the official after party.
When Star Wars Rebels came to a close at the end of its fourth season earlier this year, many were left wondering what our next animated adventure could be. Speculation was fueled after Lucasfilm job listings were posted for storyboard artists and directors (which could've also been for many projects), but now we have definitive word on what's coming next. Production has begun on STAR WARS RESISTANCE, "an exciting new animated adventure series about Kazuda Xiono, a young pilot recruited by the Resistance and tasked with a top-secret mission to spy on the growing threat of the First Order." Set in the era prior to Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the series will premiere this fall on Disney Channel in the U.S. and, thereafter, on Disney XD around the world.
Marvel Studios' AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR is roaring into theaters (read my review here) as the largest and arguably most epic superhero film of all-time! Serving as the third Avengers film and the 19th film in the ever-expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe, Infinity War closes out the first ten years of Marvel Studios while throwing open the door for what's yet to come. When viewing a film like this for the first time, the only way to see it is on the big screen, and The Rock Father™ Magazine and Fandango have teamed-up to get five (5) lucky readers hooked-up with limited-edition Avengers: Infinity War Iron Man-themed Fandango Gift Cards. Each $25 Gift Card is good toward seeing Infinity War in the participating theater of your choosing or for checking out something at home via FandangoNOW.
