On December 17, Shout! Factory Kids in association with Hasbro Studios will release LITTLEST PET SHOP - LIGHTS, CAMERA, FASHION! on DVD. This new collection features five episodes of the popular series on The Hub, all featuring Pet Shop owner Blythe and her animal friends - Zoe the spaniel, Pepper the skunk, Sunil the mongoose, Russell the hedgehog, Penny the panda, Vinnie the gecko and Minka the monkey. The DVD is available now for pre-order via my affiliate, Walmart, complete with a bonus trading card and Zoe toy.

There's a lot of activity in The Magic Kingdom (as if it every really slows down), and today I present to you another Disney Roundup here on The Rock Father. There's quick updates involving PLANES, JAKE AND THE NEVER LAND PIRATES, FROZEN, THE LITTLE MERMAID, and more.

After being teased in trailers on recent Disney Blu-ray releases for a bit now, it's official - THE JUNGLE BOOK: DIAMOND EDITION will be swinging onto Blu-ray, DVD, and HD Digital on February 11, 2014. Check out the specs below, right here on THE ROCK FATHER...

With running this website, being extremely active on social networks, and making a large part of my living from "new media" over course of the past decade, it often surprises people when they learn that I'm not big on tech for kids. Yes, I share news on the latest Apps and App-enabled toys, but I do that for the majority - the folks that are into that sort of thing, a large portion of my friends and readers. While I won't rule it out for the future, I do not own an iPad, nor do I own a tablet of any kind. While my little ones do, on rare occasion, get to check out an App or video on one of our Windows Phones, I'm not into giving them a "device" or "screen" to occupy their time, and would prefer them to embrace imaginative play, spending time outside whenever they can. I've spoken a bit about this before, and now comes a movie that hits me right in the sweet spot: PROJECT WILD THING. It's a British film created by a Dad - a film that encourages families to swap some "screen time" for some "wild time" - time spent outdoors. Watch the trailer and learn more below...

FREE BIRDS - The Rock Father Review

Written by

In the interest of full-disclosure, it's my duty to inform you that I received my passes to check out FREE BIRDS from my friends over at CHUCK E. CHEESE'S. While they have a marketing partnership with Relativity Media (the studio behind the film), you really can't blame Chuck and the gang for how their product placement actually appeared in the final film. In fact, while I've seen many jump to discussing some vast pizza conspiracy - after all, this is a movie about time-travelling turkeys seeking to have turkey replaced with pizza on the Thanksgiving menu - I have a feeling that Relativity was actively seeking a pizza partner, and when they locked one in, it was those logos that got slapped upon a few empty boxes - creating what's actually an interesting inaccuracy, but one that's pretty much irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. It's a movie about turkeys... for kids, and the kids that we took sure seemed to enjoy it.

On November 12, DreamWorks Animation's TURBO will speed onto Blu-Ray and DVD just in-time for the holidays. It's a great gift idea (perfect stocking stuffer), and to celebrate the release, Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment and The Rock Father are getting one lucky reader hooked up with a copy of the brand-new Blu-ray. But first, let's start with some fun facts about snails...

Watch: Full Trailer for The LEGO Movie...

Written by

It's BATMAN, SUPERMAN, WONDER WOMAN, and the GREEN LANTERN together on the big screen for the very first time. It's ABRAHAM LINCOLN, GOD, the TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES, ROBIN HOOD, THE STATUE OF LIBERTY, a GHOST, and HAN SOLO, coming together for one very special adventure. Yes, Warner Bros. built The LEGO Movie, and the first full-length trailer has arrived. Check it out below...

For Day 30 of 31 Days of Halloween 2013 here on The Rock Father, we have... a repeat entry from 2012? Indeed we do, as IT'S THE GREAT PUMPKIN, CHARLIE BROWN makes it back into my annual celebration of the Halloween Season. Airing tomorrow, Halloween night at 8|7c on ABC, as I said last year, there has never been, nor will there ever be, another Halloween special as timeless as the 1966 classic featuring The Peanuts Gang. If you don't already have it on DVD or Blu-Ray (or maybe, even if you do), there's just something really special about sitting down as a family and watching it on live television. In the meantime, here's a couple of clips...

75 Years ago, "The Panic Broadcast" took place. It was then that a 23-year-old ORSON WELLES performed THE WAR OF THE WORLDS, a radio drama broadcast as part of THE MERCURY THEATRE ON AIR. Based on H.G. Wells' 1898 novel of the same name, Welles and his crew managed to cause panic across America as unknowing listeners began to believe that aliens had really descended upon the small town of Grovers Mill, New Jersey. For Day 29 of 31 Days of Halloween here on The Rock Father, I'm featuring PBS AMERICAN EXPERIENCE: WAR OF THE WORLDS, which premieres tonight on PBS. Check out a preview below...

MONSTERS UNIVERSITYIt didn't even hit me until recently that MONSTERS INC. is already a twelve-year-old movie, just the fourth film in a string of hits born of the now-famed Disney•Pixar relationship. Released nearly eight years before I became a parent - or, "The Rock Father" - my little ones hadn't actually seen the film prior to the release of MONSTERS UNIVERSITY (Disney•Pixar's 14th film) earlier this summer. While we'd missed the new prequel during it's theatrical run, a review copy arrived here at Rock Father HQ courtesy of Disney... conveniently just one day after we'd seen the original broadcast on Disney XD.

THE ROCK FATHER - ROCK YOUR HOLIDAYSIt's almost the season to be jolly, and my friends at Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment are gearing up to release their latest seasonal film, HOME ALONE: THE HOLIDAY HEIST. The fifth installment of the HOME ALONE franchise first appeared last year as an ABC Family Movie Event, and this year it comes home on October 29th, arriving on DVD just in time for the holidays. FoxConnect has teamed-up with The Rock Father to get two lucky readers hooked up with copies of the new DVD, and you can find your chance below. Ho Ho Ho!

PBS KIDSIn a season where new "Halloween specials" have been light, there's a real classic vibe that comes with CURIOUS GEORGE: A HALLOWEEN BOO FEST. Making it's television debut this Monday (10/28) on PBS KIDS (check your local listings), this first-ever pumpkin-spiced tale for the little monkey has a warmth that I haven't really gotten from recent seasonal fare. Seeing my oldest curl-up on the couch with her Curious George mask as we took in a sneak-preview here at Rock Father HQ, it reminded me of those nights as a kid in the 1980s where I'd do the same while eagerly-awaiting IT'S THE GREAT PUMPKIN, CHARLIE BROWN. With that, CURIOUS GEORGE: A HALLOWEEN BOO FEST secures its place as part of 31 Days of Halloween here on The Rock Father.
