When it comes to programming on Cartoon Network, I'm always divided. I love the Adult Swim lineup, but as the title indicates - it's hardly for the kids. On the daytime front, they've got some big hits that we just can't get into - popular titles like ADVENTURE TIME and REGULAR SHOW (I just can't see the appeal) - along with stuff like THE ANNOYING ORANGE, which lives up to it's name and makes me wonder "Who greenlit this?" Then, there's quality like Dreamworks' HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON, STAR WARS: CLONE WARS, and DC Nation's TEEN TITANS GO. Now comes GROJBAND, a new, music-centric series that premieres today at 5pm/4c. We had the opportunity for a sneak-preview screening of the first couple episodes here at Rock Father HQ last week, and with the premiere finally here, it's time to share some thoughts and let you know just which side of the coin it lands on.

G.I. JOE: RETALIATION comes home this July...

Written by

The ten-year-old version of me is very disappointed. A new G.I. JOE movie came out this year, and I haven't seen it. Sure, I wasn't a big fan of the first live-action 'Joe flick (I had better adventures playing with my old Hasbro action figures in the backyard 30 years ago), but the previews I'd seen for the new one looked pretty good. If you missed it on the big screen as did I, this July you can catch up when G.I. JOE: RETALIATION comes home. The film will hit Blu-ray, Blu-ray 3D, DVD and On Demand July 30, 2013 from Paramount Home Media Distribution, with a digital release two weeks early on July 16 th.  Full specs on each release hit Rock Father HQ this evening, and all can be found below.

With the Emmy-Nominated THE AQUABATS! SUPER SHOW! making a triumphant return to The Hub for Season Two (airing Saturdays at 1pm ET | 10am PT), THE ROCK FATHER caught up with Drummer RICKY FITNESS and Co-Creator/Executive Producer/Writer/Director JASON deVILLIERS to get the low-down on the Bats' latest and future adventures on the screen (and the stereo!), along with some rock-infused discussion about possible AQUABATS! Action Figures, secret weapons, and hidden rooms within the Battle Tram. And, with Father's Day fast-approaching, these three "Rock Fathers" have to show some love for their kids...

PBS KIDS VIPMy oldest daughter just wrapped preschool for the season, and while I do have her enrolled in a Day Camp a couple of days a week throughout the summer, I - like many parents - want to make sure that learning doesn't take a break just because school's out. To help combat the summer learning slump (a genuine issue that the National Summer Learning Association has data on), my friends at PBS KIDS have come up with a variety of FREE RESOURCES for kids and parents, including 10 weeks of themed programming, printable activities, and they've developed some great partnerships to keep learning fun and productive all summer long.

Jean and Laurent de Brunhoff's beloved BABAR is returning to DVD aisles this June as eOne has announced the BABAR ADVENTURE PACK. This specially-priced, three-disc set (Pre-Order now from Walmart) features nearly five hours of fun. The Rock Father has the full details below...

AMERICAN GIRL's 2013 Girl of the Year was released this past January to much fanfare as SAIGE COPELAND was presented alongside a movement to support Arts Programs in schools (something that The Rock Father can 100% get behind) with 13 Grants awarded through the Elevate the Arts Contest. Now, Saige is coming to life as a live-action movie, AN AMERICAN GIRL: SAIGE PAINTS THE SKY (pre-order from Walmart). The folks at AMERICAN GIRL sent over the full details on the new movie, along with some new photos, all of which can be seen below...

I'm diggin' this "Old Trilogy" vibe that Disney has been tossing out since purchasing the Lucasfilm Empire last Fall. As they're already ramping-up for STAR WARS: EPISODE VII and a series of live-action spin-off films, many wondered what would happen on the televised front since it was announced that the CLONE WARS (which I sadly never had time to get into, and then it passed me by) was ending. Now we have an answer, as STAR WARS REBELS is in-development for a one-hour special telecast on Disney Channel, followed by a series on Disney XD.

PBS KIDS VIP AmbassadorLast week, the world was introduced to the newest neighbor on SESAME STREET, a Writer from Puerto Rico named Armando - or 'Mando as the folks on the 'Street quickly dubbed him. The introduction of this new character is part of a focus on Hispanic Heritage and Diversity that plays a key role in the forthcoming 44th season of the iconic series on PBS KIDS. Mando (Ismael Cruz Cordova) joins Maria (Sonia Manzano), Luis (Emilio Delgado) and Muppets Rosita and Ovejita (Carmen Osbahr) as part of SESAME STREET's bilingual community. This week, my adventures took me to the famed Fontainebleau hotel in Miami Beach, where I joined my fellow PBS KIDS VIP (Very Involved Parent) Ambassadors at the 2013 PBS Annual Meeting. There, I spent some time with Mando and Rosita... and just may have found the answer to that age-old question: "Can You Tell Me How to Get to SESAME STREET?"

STAR WARS is returning to it's roots... with production returning to the UK. While all of the previous six "episodic" films all had production activites take place in the UK at one time, the original trilogy (Episodes IV-VI) had a major connection there. The kid in me (who as an adult, sits under the shadow of an AT-AT in his office) is pretty excited.
