As promised last week, the folks at CollegeHumor have sent over the first installment of their three-part webseries event, DORA THE EXPLORER AND THE DESTINY MEDALLION. Starring Ariel Winter (MODERN FAMILY, voice of "Sofia" on Disney Junior's SOFIA THE FIRST) as the titular "Dora," with Adrian Gonzalez (who I'm sure was great as "Seedy Guy" in an episode of 90210 last year) as "Diego," the new clip can be seen below, right here on The Rock Father. Be warned... it's not family-friendly.

It was just about a month ago when I posted a blog in support of CAILLOU. The little guy is a longtime fixture here at Rock Father HQ, and like most parents of small children, I've seen the available episodes of CAILLOU more times than I can count. I say "available" because all of the episodes haven't been aired in the U.S., nor are they readily-available on DVD or on-demand in any kind of complete form. Now, PBS KIDS has started airing some "new" episodes of the popular show.

I have been deflecting the same question (or variations of it) every February/March for roughly a decade now: "Will we be seeing you at SXSW?" Despite working in various disciplines that are represented at the annual festival in Austin (Music, Film, Interactive), I've never gone. Each year, I answer a growing number of emails (probably 200+ this year) with variations on the same answer: "Maybe next year." I just don't do a lot of conferences (and when I do, someone else is paying), so for folks like me, it helps when someone else rocks some good coverage. This year? It's The SXSW Diaries - a five-part webseries from PBS, hosted by "pseudo-reporter" Steve Goldbloom. Let's watch...

Was the destruction of the Death Star an inside job? This is the question posed by a new "truther" documentary entitled "LUKE'S CHANGE: AN INSIDE JOB." Directed by filmmaker Graham Putnam in the spirit of the 9/11 doc, "LOOSE CHANGE," this 7-minute film explores "some questionable events and circumstances leading up to the destruction of the Death Star, through the eyes of an amateur investigative journalist," with the primary focus being "the connections between the people who created and operated the Death Star and those responsible for destroying it." Intrigued? Watch below...

Last June, I posted a story entitled "DORA THE EXPLORER and DIEGO Tear it Up in a Live-Action Film!" They didn't actually make a real film, but they did do a great fake trailer. Well, viewers wanted more, and more they shall receive. A rep from CollegeHumor just reached out to The Rock Father with the poster for DORA THE EXPLORER and the DESTINY MEDALLION, an all-new, three-part webseries event set to debut on March 19th. Actress Ariel Winter (MODERN FAMILY, voice of "Sofia" on Disney Junior's SOFIA THE FIRST) is back as the title character.

The 1996 film THAT THING YOU DO! is one of a select group of movies (STAR WARS, THE BLUES BROTHERS, BACK TO THE FUTURE, etc.) that I've re-purchased several times throughout the years. I had it on VHS... then DVD... then "Extended Edition" DVD... and now, the Tom Hanks written/directed comedy is coming to Blu-ray (out April 2 via Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment). Rated PG, you could toss around whether or not it's a "family" film, but I say go for it. Hanks is a true music-lover, and THAT THING YOU DO! is a testament to that. I'm surprised they didn't just wait three years to do a "20th Anniversary" release. Has it really been 17 years already?

Review: SCOOBY-DOO LIVE! MUSICAL MYSTERIES

Written by

Last year, after living together for 14 years, I learned something disturbing about my wife that had somehow never emerged... She doesn't like Scooby-Doo. This came as a real surprise to me, as I'd been known to wear the occasional Scooby t-shirt over the years, but I guess we'd never really discussed it before. Too bad for my wife, since thanks to Cartoon Network and a certain 36-year-old 3½-year-old (Addie), Scooby-Doo makes frequent appearances here at Rock Father HQ.

For my friends and readers in the Chicago area - specifically those in the Northern Suburbs - The Mystery Machine is rolling into Waukegan this Saturday as SCOOBY-DOO LIVE! MUSICAL MYSTERIES takes the stage at the Genesee Theatre for two performances at noon and 3pm. Tickets are still available through Ticketmaster, the Genesee Theatre Box Office, or by phone (800-982-2787).

DANIEL TIGER'S NEIGHBORHOOD is a fantastic show, and if you haven't been tuning in to check it out on PBS Kids, now you can grab a full 26-minute episode as a FREE Download from iTunes. "Fruit Picking Day/Daniel is Big Enough to Help Dad" is available for a limited time as a freebie to celebrate the iTunes release of DANIEL TIGER'S NEIGHBORHOOD Vol. 2

Good news for the residents of Enchancia - Disney Junior has ordered a second season of their hit series, SOFIA THE FIRST. With the first season having made it's debut just two months ago, SOFIA's popularity was practically instantaneous, as the series now tops the charts for Kids 2-5, Girls 2-5, and Boys 2-5. It's also a big hit here at Rock Father HQ, with the DVR set to record new episodes each Friday.

Baseball season is just around the corner, and with it comes the 20th Anniversary of THE SANDLOT. The perennial favorite will be released on a deluxe Blu-Ray/DVD combo pack on March 26th via 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment followed by a special, season-long screening tour that will see the film screened at Major and Minor League ballparks across the country, hosted by Writer/Director/Narrator David Mickey Evans. Check out the full details below...

It's a video that's been floating around for a couple of years now (33K+ plays on YouTube thus far), but one that deserves to be shared some more. Take two of my favorite bands - THE AQUABATS! and THE ROCK-AFIRE EXPLOSION - and put them together. What happens? Well, if you haven't seen it already, you just need to watch the video below, then... don't you?
