There isn't much that's mightier than five robotic lions that come together to form an even bigger robot. That said, VOLTRON is timeless, and VOLTRON: LEGENDARY DEFENDER is bringing that goodness to Netflix with a second season kicking off this coming January. I've been championing the series since getting an early preview on a visit to DreamWorks Animation back in May, ans something that came up during that visit is that I once was VOLTRON... for Halloween back in 1985. ""You were like a cross between KUNG FU PANDA and VOLTRON!" declared actor Tyler Labine as he and castmate Josh Keaton checked out a picture from the archives of my homemade costume. Funny enough, here we are 31 years past the night when I hit the streets ready to fight off evildoers with my blazing sword, and VOLTRON is big again... and now you can get some FREE Printable VOLTRON Pumpkin Stencils to deck out your mighty gourd as your favorite member of the team.

Halloween just became a little more festive, as Jack Skellington, Sally, Oogie Boogie, the Mayor of Halloween Town and more return to theaters for a special limited engagement run of Disney’s beloved classic THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS. Conceived and produced by Tim Burton, and directed by Henry Selick, THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS has become a modern classic in the years following its 1993 release, and from October 28-31, 2016, you can see it on the big screen, exclusively in over 200 Regal cinemas locations nationwide!

As we head into the last weekend before Halloween, families in the Chicago area that are looking for some not-so-scary, but definitely fun-filled adventure should head out to Brookfield Zoo for the return of the annual Boo! at the Zoo. Presented by Chicago's own Ferrara Candy Company, Boo! at the Zoo kicked off this past weekend, and will showcase fun events from 10am-4pm on October 29 & 30, 2016. Sharing the goodness with the local community, the folks at Ferrara have donated more than 10,000 pounds of candy, and have provided more than 300 volunteers to aid the Brookfield Zoo staff in making this spooktacular event a memorable one, with trick-or-treat stations located throughout the zoo, and plenty of fun photo opps as well! But that's not all...

This November, Keith Munslow and Bridget Brewer are set to release their first collaborative album of music for kids and families, with BIG BUNCHA BUDDIES. They've already been performing some of the new songs around Rhode Island, but until now, there hasn't been a formal taste of what to expect. With Halloween creeping-up, it's pretty appropriate that the first single to be released is one that's more... unleashed... from the crypt - a tale of "Jilly the Ghost!" You can't see her, but she sees you!

We're entering final countdown stage as we head toward Halloween 2016, and for me that means that prime time to start watching the scarier stuff has arrived. For those who may be unaware, I have something of a "horror movie" past. You'd have to do some digging to find it, but I played a supporting role in one that was released in 2009... I used to do some work for a horror mag... and actually penned a few screenplays that were once set to become movies, but ended up spawning comics instead. Having kids changed my focus quite a bit, and with the exception of a few music videos that I've directed in recent years, for the most part I've moved the frights into the "seasonal" category, choosing to enjoy them as part of my annual Halloween rituals. As a writer for the Netflix #StreamTeam, I feel it's my civic duty to share some frightful finds for you to stream & scream in the last week prior to Halloween... but some aren't too scary, as I've got suggestions for the whole family.
