The 30th Anniversary of 1985's BACK TO THE FUTURE was last year, and while much of the excitement peaked with the October 21st celebration of the actual date (the real one, not the fake ones your friends constantly meme on Facebook) that Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) traveled to the future in 1989's BACK TO THE FUTURE II, there's still a lot coming. Take Toyota's reimagined version of Marty's dream truck - a 2016 Toyota Tacoma that's been decked-out with accessories mirroring the truck that Marty finally gets in BACK TO THE FUTURE III. Or how about the Toyota Mirai Concept - a fuel cell electric vehicle (complete with Delorean mirroring gull-wing doors) that was featured in Toyota’s “Fueled by Everything” video starring Fox and Christopher Lloyd? Both are on display in the Windy City for the very first time at the 2016 Chicago Auto Show, where families can check out just what the real future may hold. I checked them out and did a little toyography - with my Hot Wheels Retro Entertainment Toyota and Delorean, along with the Funko ReAction Figure of Marty...

Trailer: Universal Pictures' JAWS 19

Steven Spielberg's 1975 film, JAWS, was an unexpected and unintentional phenomenon - one that almost didn't happen. As history and legend has shown, the fact that "Bruce" the Shark barely worked helped shape the film - one that frightened audiences by showing that "less is more." Over the past four decades, JAWS has become a franchise rivaled in number only by the JAMES BOND 007 films - racking up and incredible 17 sequels to Spielberg's original film... and now it's time for 18. Universal Pictures has just released the official trailer for JAWS 19, in theaters October 21, 2015. Check out the trailer and synopsis below, right here on THE ROCK FATHER Magazine...

Get ready for "Future Day." On October 21, 2015 - the very day that Marty McFly arrived in the future in 1989's BACK TO THE FUTURE II, Gravitas Ventures will release Jason Aron's documentary film, BACK IN TIME.  Featuring interviews with Michael J. Fox, Robert Zemeckis, Steven Spielberg, Bob Gale, Lea Thompson and Christopher Lloyd, BACK IN TIME looks at both the making of the original film and the fan culture that has developed over the years. It will be available on VOD, DVD/Blu-ray and select theaters throughout North America.

I spent the past week cruising around the Midwest in a Black 2015 Lexus GS350 F-Sport, falling in love with Lexus engineering and appropriately speeding along while thinking about the future. When it comes to the future, 1989's BACK TO THE FUTURE II sure planted some seeds of things to come, and this October, when the date arrives that the fictional Marty McFly would've traveled to, many will look back on the innovations that really did arrive as predicted by that film. Perhaps none have had as lasting an impact as the Mattel Hoverboard that was featured in the film - for years a punchline, and later made into a non-functioning "Prop Replica" sold through MattyCollector.com, last year the Hoverboard was the inspiration for an elaborate hoax carried out by Funny Or Die and featuring Tony Hawk. Who could've predicted that it would be Lexus who would create the first true, working Hoverboard - and that they'd been working on it while others were creating fakes. The Lexus Hoverboard is called SLIDE, and it's here...

Last month, a great ripple was felt on multiple planes when LEGO Dimensions was officially announced. Now, more details have emerged as Dr. Emmett Brown (Christopher Lloyd) comes face to face with his quite "handsome" LEGO counterpart in a new trailer that takes viewers into LEGO Hill Valley and well beyond. The first BACK TO THE FUTURE Fun Pack will be released alongside the game, on September 27, 2015, with an additional shortly behind. Take a peek...

"When a mysterious and powerful vortex suddenly appears in various LEGO worlds, different characters from DC Comics, The Lord of the Rings and The LEGO Movie are swept away. To save their friends, Batman, Gandalf and Wyldstyle bravely jump into the vortex and quickly find themselves fighting to save all of LEGO humanity."

That's the basic gist of LEGO DIMENSIONS (out September 27), a new offering from LEGO and Warner Bros. that brings a brick-based spin on the toys-meet-games genre that was pioneered by SKYLANDERS and expanded upon by DISNEY INFINITY. Today's official announcement of LEGO Dimensions ends days of speculation fueled by LEGO's #BreakTheRules social media campaign that had fans guessing... and in many cases, going down the wrong rabbit hole. Check out the teaser starring COMMUNITY's Joel McHale...
