Review: KIDZ BOP PARTY POP!

If you think that I've crossed over to The Dark Side, you may be correct... or just completely mistaken, as I've probably been riding shotgun with Vader for more than thirty years at this point. You see, there's KIDZ BOP - a Global phenomenon that I was 100% against for the longest time... or was I? Then it really hit me that KIDZ BOP is no different than the KIDS INCORPORATED record I spun for a good portion of my own childhood, one that was spun-off of a television series as an extension of it's own "brand." With its kid-friendly cover versions of Top 40 hits, and being the number one music brand for kids, KIDZ BOP does have a place here on THE ROCK FATHER... and the latest edition, KIDZ BOP PARTY POP!, was released earlier this month as a sonic aperitif to the forthcoming KIDZ BOP 26 (out July 15 via Razor & Tie).

There is nothing wrong with your computer. Do not attempt to adjust your browser. I am still controlling the transmission, but yes, I am about to give you all the opportunity to win a KIDZ BOP CD. If you've been here for awhile, then you probably know that I've not been kind to the KIDZ BOP brand in the past, but the last time I mentioned them, I ended things with a question posited by my wife: Would my opinion on the KIDZ BOP series change as my girls got older? On August 19, 2013, I said "No." Now, with KIDZ BOP Radio on SiriusXM... I realize that I lied.

Here we go again...

Last December, I published a piece here on The Rock Father entitled KIDZ BOP 23: For Parents that Don't Like Children or Music, timed ahead of the January release of the abomination known as KIDZ BOP 23. Little did I know that the folks at Razor & Tie had quickly returned to the laboratory to begin assembling what just might be their most sinister collection yet, KIDZ BOP 24. Released last month, it's existence had somehow managed to evade my musical radar until nefarious forces placed the following song in front of me last night...

As I tweeted earlier today: Parents - please, do not ever buy your children a KIDZ BOP album. In some States, doing so warrants a visit from DCFS

Sure, the last part was an exaggeration, but I think most will agree that the KIDZ BOP series is pretty bad. In fact, the newly-released KIDZ BOP 23 just might be the finest album available for parents that don't like their children, or music.
