It's a weird thing when a press release or an album announcement arrives in my inbox, and I read it only to find a quote from myself. It's also an exciting, and sometimes flattering thing, and such is the case with the new album from RIFF ROCKIT, whose latest album announcement was quite unexpectedly led-off by your truly. That said, I'm just sharing what landed in the news department below!

It was just over two years ago already that I reviewed the self-titled debut from RIFF ROCKIT, the multimedia, kindie alter-ego of Evan Michael. In that time, the project has grown, and now it's time for Michael (a leukemia survivor) to give back, with the release of his first Spanish-Language album, LUZ VERDE VAMOS! All proceeds from the sale of this new record (out June 17) will benefit the blood cancer research efforts of BE THE MATCH.

I've been telling you about RIFF ROCKIT since I reviewed his debut album here on The Rock Father this past March, and if you have kids and like to rock - then hopefully you've checked him out. Riff will soon release his first DVD, RIFF ROCKIT: LIVE IN CONCERT, and today a couple of previews hit Riff's Facebook, so I couldn't resist sharing them with you here. Check out the trailer, and a full performance of 'Jump Up' below. I've said it before, but this reminds me a lot of KIDS INCORPORATED...

We've been digging the debut album from RIFF ROCKIT for awhile here at Rock Father HQ (check out my review right here), so when word came down that he was filming a live DVD at his L.A. showcase this past March, we were pretty excited. Now comes news that the DVD will be released this summer, and while the exact date has yet to be revealed, some behind-the-scenes pics and early info has emerged.

Imagine for a moment, a world in which Ace Frehley's Spaceman alter-ego spawned a guitar-slinging son with a whimsical penchant for taking a safari on a big wheel while singing about the alphabet. Now imagine this space-suited young man being joined by a talking guitar and embarking on a career as a children's entertainer, breaking out kid-friendly power ballads and arena anthems for the toddler set. Intrigued? Welcome to the world of RIFF ROCKIT.
