It's going to be a massive summer on Disney Junior, with the preschool network set to debut one new episode of one of its hit series every weekday for seven-consecutive weeks from Monday, June 29 through Thursday, August 13th as part of the SOARING OVER SUMMER multi-platform event. New episodes of alternating series SOFIA THE FIRST, DOC McSTUFFINS, MILES FROM TOMORROWLAND, JAKE AND THE NEVER LAND PIRATES and HENRY HUGGLEMONSTER will premiere each weekday at 9:00 a.m. ET/PT on Disney Channel and 7:30 p.m. ET/PT on Disney Junior. Also premiering this summer is CAPTAIN JAKE AND THE NEVER LAND PIRATES: THE GREAT NEVER SEA CONQUEST, an all-new special 44-minute episode that leads to an exciting story arc where Jake becomes a Captain, kicking off a storyline which will carry into the upcoming fourth season of the series. The folks at Disney Junior have provided THE ROCK FATHER with an EXCLUSIVE FIRST-LOOK IMAGE of "Captain Jake" from the new special!

On my visits to The Walt Disney Studios and Walt Disney Animation Studios, I've noticed the life-sized FIX IT FELIX JR. machines (perhaps the same machine) in two different locations. Built to promote the release of WRECK-IT RALPH back in 2012, the FIX IT FELIX JR. games are based largely upon DONKEY KONG JR., and present a true throwback to classic arcade gaming. The girls and I recently made a Papercraft FIX IT FELIX JR. machine using printer paper and a template found on DeviantArt (an alternate plan exists on Disney's official site). The end result is a little sloppy, but it's perfectly-scaled for 3 ¾" action figures, and inspired this photo. "Meanwhile at The Walt Disney Studios Offices..."

John D. Boswell (aka melodysheep) has been featured here on THE ROCK FATHER four times in the past, all back in 2012 for his work doing remixes and mashups for PBS Digital Studios, namely massively viral hits based around READING RAINBOW, BOB ROSS, MISTER ROGERS NEIGHBORHOOD and JULIA CHILD. While he's remained plenty busy tackling everything from GAME OF THRONES to STAR WARS, ROBIN WILLIAMS, TERRY CREWS and even "Metal Songs for Kids," now he's back putting a new spin on some familiar television characters - those featured on Disney Junior. Tonight I'm sharing the first installment of "DJ Melodies," a new music video-style short-form series that premieres MONDAY, APRIL 6 on Disney Junior (6:25 p.m. and 6:55 p.m., ET/PT). Check out the infectious new mashup he's done for SOFIA THE FIRST...

Don't let jealousy consume you. Don't lie. Don't steal. Again, don't let jealousy consume you... in fact, don't be jealous of others at all. That's how I would interpret the lessons taught in SOFIA THE FIRST: THE CURSE OF PRINCESS IVY, the latest adventure from Enchancia to make it's way home on DVD. Included along with the hour-long special are three additional episodes of the Disney Junior hit - with "The Amulet of Avalor," "Princess Butterfly" and "The Emerald Key" each adding to the value of the disc. Having already had THE CURSE OF PRINCESS IVY stored on the DVR for a few months, my girls were already well-versed in her sinister intentions long before the DVD arrived here at Rock Father HQ, but a physical copy has already proven to be an invaluable addition to our SOFIA THE FIRST library.

Ginnifer Goodwin is a self-professed Disneyphile. "I don't know if that's a word, but it is now - this to me was the pinnacle," she says after I asked her if she was familiar with the whole Disney Fairies lore upon taking on the role of Fawn in their latest cinematic adventure, TINKER BELL AND THE LEGEND OF THE NEVERBEAST (out now on Blu-ray, DVD and Disney Movies Anywhere). "I just always wanted to voice animated features for Disney," she added, noting that while she was familiar with the Fairies franchise, she hadn't seen all of the films, and then "ripped through all of them" after she booked the role of the popular Animal Fairy. "I'm shocked that in the 'States they go straight-to-video - I think they're excellent. They appeal to all ages, and both genders and are just so well-done, with stories that are well-told. The characters are flawed - the morals are evolved - there's messages I would want taught to my children, and while I was familiar with them before, now I'm a fan." Though Goodwin was new to the world of Pixie Hollow, her nearly four-year journey to completing the film found the actress taking detours to other Disney locales - most notably Storybrooke and Enchancia.

We just caught what I believe is the second Halloween episode of Disney Junior's SOFIA THE FIRST this past Friday, and if your little ones want to keep that pumpkin-y adventure going like mine do, there's a book available to do just that. SOFIA THE FIRST: THE HALLOWEEN BALL is a 24-page paperback from Disney Press that includes a set of sparkly stickers and can be found for under five bucks at retailers everywhere. I picked up a copy for my little Princesses, and there's a good chance that you might want to, too!
