When it comes to holiday specials, Jim Henson's Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas has always ranked among my favorites - one that I'd eagerly await seeing each year when HBO would get around to airing it again... those primitive years before home video really caught on. Despite numerous releases on VHS, DVD and Blu-ray over the years, the soundtrack never got a proper release, and that's left fans like myself a little bit bummed. Paul Williams is a legend, having penned the Academy Award-nominated song "Rainbow Connection" from The Muppet Movie, "Evergreen" from A Star Is Born and many other #1 hits (he was also Little Enos in Smokey and the Bandit) and his music from Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas has been fueling singalongs for over 40 years. Now, just in time for the 2018 holiday season, the world premiere release of the soundtrack has finally taken place and Varèse Sarabande Records and The Rock Father™ have teamed-up to give you a chance to win the all-new CD!

The Emmy-nominated Splash and Bubbles has been captivating audiences on PBS Kids, and now, ahead of World Oceans Day the music of the popular series is coming home! The Jim Henson Company, Herschend Studios, and Music.Film Recordings are making a “Splash” to kick-off summer with the release of Splash and Bubbles: Rhythm of the Reef (Songs from Season One)Available on CD and digital June 1, the soundtrack album features 16 fan-favorite songs, along with 6 bonus tracks from the interstitial series “Get Your Feet Wet.” Now, the folks behind the series have partnered with The Rock Father™ for the exclusive premiere of the "Reeftown Rangers" music video, so gather the kids and crank it up!

One of my favorite childhood toys is coming back to television after a successful relaunch last year. Wicked Cool Toys and their partner Alchemy II, Inc. have teamed up with The Jim Henson Company to develop an animated fantasy adventure series for kids ages 3-7 based on Teddy Ruxpin

The Jim Henson Company, who has recently and quite disappointingly been attempting to recruit writers and bloggers* into an unpaid promotional program called "The Jim Henson Family Hub" aka "The Hubbub," is following-up their rights-grab "contest" to design a new creature for their forthcoming Labyrinth series (the "winner" receives a measly pittance of just $500 in exchange for the rights to their creation) with the announcement of a new series based on the popular female action figures by IAmElemental.  Henson's recent shortcomings aside, IAmElemental is a fantastic toy line - one of our favorites here at Rock Father HQ, and the announcement of a series is great news. I'm really looking forward to seeing what they'll do with this, and very happy to see the work of IAmElemental's Julie Kerwin and crew being recognized!

Netflix Stream TeamLast month, the Netflix Original Series JULIE'S GREENROOM premiered to stellar reviews from kids, parents and critics alike. I even featured the series in my monthly column for the Netflix #StreamTeam, and now comes word that the music from the show will soon be available for families to enjoy anytime, anywhere. Varèse Sarabande will release the JULIE’S GREENROOM – Original Netflix Series Soundtrack digitally on April 14 and on CD May 5, 2017.  The soundtrack features songs performed by Broadway and screen legend Julie Andrews as well as wonderful guest stars such as Alec Baldwin, Carol Burnett, Ellie Kemper and Tony and Emmy award winning performer Dave Hyde Pierce.  Also included on the soundtrack is the original score composed by Ryan Shore (PRIME, The Girl Next Door)

Netflix #StreamTeamAs we get ready to close the books on June and move into the second half of the year on an official basis, my friends at Netflix are looking toward the future, while also keeping a keen eye on where things are in the present. Earlier this month, a question was posited: Where is the craziest place that you've gone to sneak-in a Netflix fix? They even whipped-up a little chart with some common locations for sneaky streamers, and I'll fully admit to matching #1... perhaps while in the process of #2. Yes, I've maybe watched a show on the throne, but I don't make a habit of it - most of my viewing is actually right here in my office at Rock Father HQ, but it you have an interesting locale for streaming, I'd like to hear about it! So what's new from Netflix? A lot of stuff, but I'm focusing on a few pics from our family to yours, as well as one piece of news that I'm really digging...
