I gotta say - I wasn't sure if I should file this one under "Toys & Games" or "Family Music," and the reason is that it's both. On the surface we have an announcement that Baconstein is coming - a "plush posable action figure" that will become available this Friday. But then we have the fact that Baconstein is the nemesis of Gustafer Yellowgold, who has a new record coming out... also this Friday. Check out a commercial for this delicious-looking figure below...

Shelley Wollert is back as "Elska," the Icelandic Musical Pioneer who is said to have discovered a new island of volcanic rock while traveling by iceberg. For her newest electro-pop jam (available on iTunes now), Elska is teamed with WILCO's Mikael Jorgensen and long-time collaborator Allen Farmelo as they put forth a simple message: you don't need much. While I appreciate the sentiment and hope that my girls will one day identify with it (it's important to understand the difference between needs and wants), it's always weird to think of an anti-materialistic message while I'm sitting here in the confines of Rock Father HQ... where I often feel that we have "Too Much Junk." Check out the new video below!

So, earlier this weekend, I'm cruising the Brown Bag Films website prior to posting about the YouTube release of their I'M AN ANIMAL series, when I come across this blog entry from March 24. Yes, the legendary Ron Swanson of NBC's PARKS AND RECREATION throwing down some wisdom about DOC McSTUFFINS. While I don't get to see PARKS & REC very often, I do know that Swanson (played by Nick Offerman) is perhaps the finest live-action character currently appearing on television. I also know that my house has been completely overtaken by little Dottie McStuffins, and friends - but I'm totally cool with it.
