LeVar Burton - Reading RainbowAfter creating successful viral videos three times in a row with tributes to MISTER ROGERS, BOB ROSS, and JULIA CHILD, PBS Digital Studios is back with a fourth round, this time giving READING RAINBOW the remix treatment. Long before he was rockin' that banana clip visor in STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION, LeVar Burton was teaching kids (like me!) the joys of reading. I'd say to "take a look, it's in a book," but what you need to see is "In Your Imagination."

Los Angeles-based SUNSHINE COLLECTIVE have just released their contribution to the sonic holiday landscape with a new song called "The City That Forgot to Snow." Already available on iTunes (get it here), the new track also has a music video which can be viewed below. An email that landed here at Rock Father HQ tonight suggests that the song will strike listeners that enjoy the Christmas offerings from Michael Buble, Colbie Collait, or Diana Krall. Watch, listen, and see what you think below...

I'm not sure anyone is 100% sure how to get to SESAME STREET from Brooklyn (I believe it's somewhere in Manhattan), but one man who could probably supply some directions is Bob McGrath - THE "Bob" - who just began his 43rd season on the popular PBS Kids show. A "Rock Father" himself with five children, McGrath has released numerous children's albums, a a seasonally-appropriate CHRISTMAS SING ALONG. On December 9, he'll be appearing at the monthly HIP TOT MUSIC FEST, where he'll be joined by Jeremy Plays Guitar and his Rock-ucation Band. Jeremy Plays Guitar is the official band of Rock-ucation, Inc. where music is not only educational, it ROCKS!

I'm nine songs into the new album from Los Angeles-based indie musician Steve Pierson's JAMBO as I type this, and my first impression is that a lot of folks will enjoy HOOTENANNY when it arrives next year. Slated for release on February 12, 2013 via Got the Blues Music, JAMBO's HOOTENANNY is a 14-track collection of blues-infused "American roots music for kids."

The folks over at Twinkle Twinkle Little Rock Star are known for their collections of popular songs reworked into "lush instrumental versions" perfect for play in your baby's nursery, or for your own relaxation. They've also been known to venture into Soundtrack territory, and one realm they've been covering for years is that of THE TWILIGHT SAGA. Now, with the release of BREAKING DAWN PART 2 comes LULLABY VERSIONS of THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN PT. 2. If you're a TWILIGHT fan (and I know a lot of you are), you'll want to check out the tracklisting and cover art below.

It's not a new Christmas song, but since Mista Cookie Jar just reposted his 2011 "Robot for Christmas" video on Facebook, I have to post it here on The Rock Father. It's just weird enough that I can't resist, and if you dig the kind of 1980's-analog-robo-funk that I often find myself enjoying, then you'll probably savor this in an "all your base are belong to us" kind of way. It's a Santastic song with nods to STAR WARS, SHORT CIRCUIT, ROBOCOP, TRANSFORMERS, 2001, and more. Actually, if the phrase "Max & Jinx, friends forever" means anything to you... just check it. Video and lyrics below... and if you dig it, you can grab the track here.

The folks over at Twinkle Twinkle Little Rock Star are going country for the next couple of weeks, and they're kicking things off with today's release of LULLABY VERSIONS OF RASCAL FLATTS Lullaby Versions of Rascal Flatts - Twinkle Twinkle Little Rock Star. It's not the first time that Rascal Flatts has been given the lullaby treatment, but this new collection features 12 of the band's biggest hits reworked into a "lush instrumental style" perfect for playing in your babies' nursery, or for simple relaxation. Check out the tracklisting below...

The colorful characters from the Nick Jr. hit YO GABBA GABBA! will be hitting the road once more, as they've just announced a 50 City Tour for 2013. Yo Gabba Gabba! LIVE! Now that Black Friday is behind us, we can "officially" say that the Holiday Music season is in full-effect. Sure, the girls and I were sneaking some Christmas music over the past few weeks, but only now is it "socially acceptable" for most people to crank up the cheer. For the smallest member of your family (baby!) comes two all-new collections of Christmas Lullabies from the folks at Twinkle Twinkle Little Rock Star. Already mentioned in passing in my 2012 Holiday Gift Guide, now the full details on Christmas Lullabies Volumes 1 & 2 can be found below.

Earlier this year, Disney-Pixar issued another entry in their TOY STORY TOONS series, with the short film, PARTYSAURUS REX (watch it now on Disney.com). The new short played in theaters before FINDING NEMO 3D, and featured an original score from acclaimed EDM (Electronic Dance Music) artist/producer, BT. After the success of Partysaurus Rex, Disney-Pixar have just released a new single entitled "Partysaurus Overflow" by BT and Au5 - an extended cut featuring music from the short along with audio samples from various characters from the film.

Written by

SIRIUS|XM Radio - XM eStoreWe've got SIRIUS XM Satellite Radio in the Equinox, and when I noticed that there were only two channels of Holiday Music that popped last week, I was a little disappointed. I was sure that there were more last year, and it turns out I was right - they just don't launch on the same day. SiriusXM is rolling out several more Holiday Programming options in the coming weeks, and I've got the full details for you right here on The Rock Father. Yes, the girls and I have already been spinning some Christmas music in the car, interspersed with Kids Place Live...
